That is very interesting. Is there anymore pics on the web of this truck? Maybe a website?

Well, since Loogy isn't answering, these are a couple more of his truck with his old wheels (as you can see, he still uses it as a shop truck  ) and a photo shop request made on previous HAMB posts. Hope you don't mind Chris :)

I am, but have yet to lower it. After I get the motor bugs worked out I'm lowering yet with a 4" drop axle and probably rev. spring eyes.

Well, this is a little different flavor, but HAMB worthy none the less. This was a 427 powered drag truck back in the day. Recently discovered in excellent condition in a barn. Check out where the exhaust dumps.

Most of the I beam trucks are probably clipped. But the 61-64's are straight axles, so some are dropped, some clipped.

Edit: Is that right on the intro of the Twin I beam in 1965? Might be '66, I'm getting old and can't remember.

Cool. Post some pics when you get it dropped! :D

Your 390 looks awesome, btw. How difficult (and/or expensive) was the swap? The 223 in my '62 needs a complete rebuild so I'm starting to consider other engine choices...

Thanks! The 390 was actually in when I bought it. It came with the same motor you have from the factory. I am lowered the motor and moved it back as well to accomodate the suspension drop. The prior owner did a hack job of putting the drivetrain in and so I fabbed up a ****** cross member and had to re-do all the clutch linkage. I did not have the stock ****** cross member, so I can't tell you if you can use it, but I would try. I don't have the stock ****** now either.
However, I don't think the swap needs to be that hard. Carolina Cl***ics sells a tube cross member/engine cradle that mounts on the frame rails for 390s. I am using that. I had to cut out the original factory cross member behind the motor, but that was because I moved the motor back so much. I think you could leave it in place if you notched the front cross member. My motor should probably be another inch forward or so, but I didn't notch the front x-member. Bottom line, leave the ****** in the stock location and I think all you'd have to do is notch the front x-member. I am not 100% sure because my truck was somewhat molested before I got ahold of it, so don't start cutting until you verify things. If you call Carolina Cl***ics, ask for Ron. He probably knows the answers to all your questions.

Thanks for the info! I keep reading that engine swaps in solid front axle trucks are next to impossible. I guess that's not necessarily true.

I'll probably be buying a complete set of patch panels from Carolina Cl***ics to fix my floor (see pics). I think I'll inquire about their motor swap kits too, if only for future reference. As you can see it's pretty rough so the sheet metal is going to eat up a lot of my budget! I may just find a running 223 and drop it in for the time being.

Then all I need to worry about is brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, interior...

Well FEs and Y blocks were optional on some of the straight axle trucks, so it can't be too bad. If you haven't joined Slick 60s forum, you should. They have many experts on the types of swaps you mention. I am by no means an expert since I didn't start with a stock application, just fixing what the PO did. I know it was mentioned above, but here is a link if you are interested: http://groups.msn.com/slick60sfordfseries61to66/general.msnw?action=get_threads
Also, feel free to PM me anytime you have a question. Can't guarntee I'll have the answer, but I'll try. Good luck, these trucks are really gaining in popularity lately and more and more aftermarket support is happening all the time.

I saw this at world of Wheels yesterday. I don't know anything about it other than it was super clean and mostly stock Except for the 427 under the hood.

Loogy's is one of my favorites of this style. The wheel selection was dead nuts on when I first seen it.

Chris is this the same truck you show above or is this the 'other' truck you and your dad had sitting out back.
