"61 Pontiac bubble top, esp, Catalina Ventura, with aluminum drums, in my mind, is the best looking car ever created by U.S. manufacturers, followed by "61, 62, Belaire bubble tops and 33 and 34 Ford coupes. The rare, '62 Pontiac Catalina bubble top is at the top also. All the '61 bubble tops were the best looking GM cars, ever.
My recently acquired 1961 Buick Lesabre , i am looking for some interior bits if anyone has parts for these , cheers Rob
They're so rare the factory never built one. There have been a few built by hand in recent years by customizers who grafted '61 roofs on '62 bodies.
True, I think there's been two built over the years, one black and one white as far as I know. Years ago I envisioned such a car as I've always thought the '62 had a better looking front end and the fenders and doors looked like they'd pretty much line up. Last I new, both were for sale, the black one for 780 g's! Also Pontiac's fastest 1/4 mile car was a 389 cu inched 2x4 1960 Catalina with a 3 spd. trans. if I remember correctly
What is this? Looks like a '62 Grand Prix bubbletop, but there never was such a thing from the factory. I've seen a couple of phantoms; maybe this is one of those. Never, ever seen one of these, either. Was it US production, or Canadian? Among bubbletops, the '61 Ventura and the '62 Bel Air are the best to me.
