alright, while driving the car seems fine then suddenly the steering wheel begins to swing back and forth uncontrollably. Now if i mash the brakes it stops, cruises fine for a bit then comes back.

i took the car to get aligned, once on the rack the driver side was found to be 1/2" off. i have crawled under the car and greased the bearings and made sure they are fine, checked all of the rubbers and even pulled on the suspension to make sure everything is fine and i have yet to find anything out of the ordinary.

the guy at the alignment shop even confirmed that all the rubbers are in very good shape and he can not find anything to cause it either. he mentioned to me he thinks it is possibly in the steering box but i doubt that.

i have had 3 seperate sets of wheels on this car, 2 sets of radials and 1 pair of bias plys. they are all balanced and have checked out fine.

    any thoughts or ideas?

any help is much appreciated, thanks!

are you sure its coming from the front?
the Cadillacs do crazy things when the upper rear ball joints on the top control wish bone go bad.

at what speeds are the wobbles coming at?
    turning or straight line?

Here are some thing to check.
check the play in the idler arm this if loose will cause wandering.
check the adjustment in the steering box at the center wheels straight ahead.
Did the alignment shop set the front end up with the correct positive caster?
