Ok, so I'm putting a 4 barrel on my 58 Buick Special that has the original 364 Nailhead, what I want to know, is if I use a 61 Carter for a 401 Nailhead, will it still work? Or would it be better to find a 4bbl for a 364? The 61 LeSabre had a 364, there was a 4bbl option, does anybody know what carb it came with?

Were they the same Carter AFB 4bbls used on the 364's as the 401's? I've tried looking it up but can only find a Stromberg that was used on the 61 LeSabre, I didn't know they produced a 4bbl.

  4. Same carb both used a Rochester 4 jet. Well in '61 it may have been a carter but they were the same carb. it will work fine if the carb is in good shape.

otherwise "AFB" as @302GMC suggested. It is way easier to find a good AFB than a good Rochester or carter 4 jet.

Buick by the way never put a carter AFB on a 364, not that it wouldn't work.

Aah, ok. That's a bit clearer. It's just I've found a rebuilt and ready set up carter, it's for a 1961 401 Nailhead, so before I go ahead and buy it, wanted to be sure it'd still work well.
