Hey guys, My Newport is coming along and she's mostly roadworthy with only a few items left before I'm comfortable that she'll ride solid. I've replaced the rear shocks with Monroe Sensatracs, and I have new KYBs to put on the front. She's still a bit loose as it is, but I'm expecting the fronts to make a big difference. I still have the original size bias ply tires. The car sits so high in the fwdlook stock form, but I've been driving sports cars for so long with my **** seemingly dragging on the ground I want to lower this car a bit. Also, I just think it needs to be lower to balance the look and stabilize the feel. Adjust torsions in front, and I plan to use blocks in the rear. My simple question is this - should I go 2" or 3"? thanks alot, Nathan
I think you can get away with either. You will still land on the bump stops if you load up the trunk, only a little sooner. I am planning an IFS swap on my '62, but it's a couple projects down the line right now. I'll be using the '03+ Crown Vic front suspension system. I'll install it with whatever drop I want from the start. In the rear, I have a couple of options to update the old axle and may even use a triangulated 4-link, but haven't decided. One thing I am unsure of is the flange to flange width of the rear axle. Could you measure for me when you add your blocks?
Thanks Scotty; mine will be much simpler. I won't be getting to it until a short while out, probably at least a month or two, but if you can wait I'd be sure to measure it. Nathan
