Just to clarify, the black '61 doesn't belong to me (sure wish it did), just didn't know where the OP was coming from so decided to post a nice example.
When I was 17 I really fell for a black Starliner 390 hi-po car. I wanted to buy it in the worst way but my dad wanted to look at it before giving his blessing. Once he heard the rumble he said no way-figured I would kill myself. Always regretted it so a few years ago I bought this one (pretty lady not included). It is hard to beat the lines of a 61 Starliner in my opinion.
My deceased uncle drove one as deputy sheriff take home car. 390 hipo 3 speed. He traded it for a 64 Catalina 421 4 speed car. No body out ran either car. Unfortunately he got shot breaking up a bar fight.
My brother had a 1960 star liner in light yellow was one of the coolest cars he ever bought and wishes he had it back lol Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A friend of mine just got back from Colorado with a 61 he found out there. Solid as a rock but needs a total restore. It's got a 6 cyl. 3speed with overdrive. I like the pic of the black one that was posted on here.
I know were there is a complete one parked in the woods up north that looks like it was driven there and left
I always liked how the trim becomes the door handle. It was 61 only I believe on the Galaxies and wagons.
I'm not a Ford guy but I thought they were the same car in 61. Just different trim packages. Kind of like the Super Bee and Charger in 71.
Love those Starliners. Here's a couple pics of my Dad's Starliner back in the day. I believe the color pic was in the pits at Beeline drag strip.
