Has anyone seen a red 62 Plymouth Fury that was a Granatelli-built Bonneville car. I ran into the car in 1973 after leaving the service in Medford, Oregon. It had a 480" wedge with twin McCullogh superchargers, 2 big air-flow guages on the dash, full roll cage and only 4000 miles on it. It had been purchased by a local drag racer to street race, but would not hook up, so it was parked. I was going to buy it for the hefty price of $1200 but the Chevy guys that owned it tried to rip me off by raising the price to $1500, so I told them to stick it. I have principles,(I'm not very smart, but I have principles), anyway, the car went to Seattle, then to Atlanta. I saw it posted on Hemming's for $1,000,000 back in the late 80's, then as a feature car in a Muscle car book. I was just wondering where the car went and would appreciate any photos if anyone knows its current location. Thanks.

I purchased the Granatelli '62 Plymouth just as it was last raced at Bonneville in '62 in 1989 but I paid more than 10 times what it was offered to you. I sent the car to Randy Delisio for a complete correct restoration. I kept it a couple years including showing it at Hershey in '91 I believe. The car is presently in Don Garlits museum.

Thanks, Frank, I know that the car looked fantastic in the book that I saw. One question, when I saw the car originally, the seats were not the stock coverings, they were red with white inserts, with pleats running across the seats, kind of like the old Fingerhuts covers. Do you know what that was about??

I'm putting a new quarter panel on a co-workers '68 Camaro, and in exchange he's giving me their family owned '63 Valiant 2 door. This will be my son's car, and this thread has steered me in the right direction for the look he may want. Thanks.
