Belairs back up on jack stands to button up the bottom end. Suspensions officially finished, tightened and loctite on everything. Painted the exhaust, fenderwells and brake drums black. Also got the rear centered for good with the y bone and panhard bar adjusted properly ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1439796499.358994.jpg

Rebuilt the carb. Somethings wrong and im not sure what, kind of a rookie when it comes to carbs. It starts hard unless u throw a little fuel down the carb. Itll run fairly smooth up around 1k rpm and higher but idles rough and wants to die around 700 rpm or lower. Also if you ease on the throttle itll build up rpm pretty smooth. If you stomp on it itll start to die right away. Seems to be starved for fuel. Everything in the carb is working well to my knowledge, any ideas? Any help is appreciated

I shot carb cleaner around the carb base and intake manifold checking for vacuum leaks and got nothing so i think thats all good. The idle mixture adj screw on the carb still has no effect while adjusting it. I checked the screw opening and the hole in the base of the carb and everything looks clean and not clogged. Im gonna swap the plugs since its been sitting in storage while i worked on it for the past year and its been fired up repeatedly just to move it around the shop. Coil looks beat to, might swap that. Any other ideas guys ?

Pulled the plugs, they look like hell from the hard starts in storage. Compression read right around 120 across all cylinders with a really weak battery. Im gonna tear into the ignition and re check my float level as well

Tune it! Check alt too. Everything fresh & it should be driven highway speed to loosen up the old girl.

Slammed the only thing that is confusing me is the idle mixture screw has no effect at all. I cant get it to idle below 900 rpm right now tho so maybe once i swap ignition parts everything will smooth out enough to tune it. Acc pump seems to work as fuel is shooting down the carb at all points of throttle. 3 of the plugs had no effect when i pulled the wires off while it was running. The other 3 started to kill the motor when i pulled em so i have an ignition problem for sure. Sound like a coil to you?

Peace of mind. Research parts for quality. When the Ign./plugs/wires/coil/cap/points or Pertronix? connections/alt are known good-fresh then its time for that carb. And try not to let the stuff sit too long. Stuff today seems to go away faster that before when they sit still. Humidity. Crappy gasoline. Sub par parts from God knows where. Last night the rebuilt alt was defect out of the box! Went back and had them test the next one right there....junk! Another.......junk! 3 in a row! Switched brands, tested bingo, good. Freakin'-A, today is a struggle.

Coil was shot, swapped it out, re checked the points and threw new plugs in and it runs wayyyyy better. Got the idle squared away. Idles at 500rpm in drive and i dialed in the mixture screw so its silky smooth. Barely hear it runnin inside the car. Im still having what i believe is a acc pump issue. If you ease on the throttle or give medium load its fine. But if you stab it hard it falls flat on its face and then will pickup after that. Also has a slight popping sometimes as your building rpm easing on the throttle but its usually super smooth. I havent been able to drive it yet, hopefully tomorrow. Any suggestions? Im taking the carb back off regardless to double check everything

It seems like the ecu's are problematic. I've heard it from a few builds.

Started buffing. These pics are after the first cutting compound so its nowhere near as glossy as it will be when its done. Cant wait. Unfortunately i need to hit the roof with 1500 and 2000 again as there is a few wierd scratches in the roof that wont come out
