62 Biscayne Ideas ??

I ended up with this awesome 62 Biscayne from New Mexico. The ch***is has been cleaned, painted, plumbed, and fitted with disk brakes and a posi rear end. I have a rebuilt 348 with a Muncie 4-speed to stuff in it and am in the midst of doing the body work to get it in self etching primer. The body is New Mexico perfect with "old people" parking lot dings.

Here is my dilema ... I don't know how I want to finish the car off. Originally, it was going to be a LaCarrera Mexican road race car, complete with roll cage, fuel cell, race seats, etc. Running that race is now off the table.

Stock, early drag car, suede, LaCarrera, slammed, jacked up, etc. I would sure appreciate any suggestions I can get. What would a H.A.M.B 62 Biscayne be like?

    Your suggestions are really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Joe

    My own personal thought's....
Super stock type look all the way..
Solid white paint, painted steelies ( either white or black) with cheater slicks out back and plain silver lug nuts., exhaust cut out's and nothing to draw your attention away from the whole car. Just a clean, sleeper look.
That's just me though...... i have a thing for the simple look on the early X frame Chevy's. i know, i am boring. haha:)

    Cool car btw.

I sort of like the early simple drag car look also. The original color was teal but I am not sure I can stomach that color. I already have a lettered up drag car, so a clean drag car look could work.

I am also thinking of how to do the interior, seeing as we threw out the desert dry rotted stuff when we were planning a LaCarrera car. Maybe a bare bones drag interior with simple door panels, rubber mat floor, old school D100 style buckets, etc. I could probably do a bench seat also.

Here are a few other Biscayne's. I sort of like the cream or blue one. Not a real big fan of the teal one. White would be real nice

So many choices, so many decisions. Keep the ideas coming.

    Many thanks,
    Joe

I would still go with LaCarrera. The style if not substance. That way, you'd be ready if that got back on the table.

I would build anything drag style, but I like your original idea, especially now that you aren't doing it.

    Maybe a period Nascar look?

Great ideas for sure. I was also thinking of sticking in a full roll cage so if LaCarrara came back on the plate it would be ready to go. I also sort of like the outside to be plain Jane but the inside to be all business, whatever we decide that business is (road race, drag race, etc.).

So many choices. I also like the suggestion to do it in red. My GTO is now red but in the process of going back to Mariner Turquoise, a real ugly color in my book but the goat is an original deal and needs to be back in the original color.

    Keep the ideas coming.

Looks great in black, one of my favorite colors.

I really like the idea of a vintage Super Stock. With the 348 and 4-speed it would fit the bill. Nicer to have a healthy 409 but the 348 will do just fine especially since it is all new and bought and paid for.

I have a 3x2 intake without carbs and I also have a 409 factory aluminum hi-riser that I "think" can be made to work with a 409 motor, so I am told. I have a Holley 650 CFM which should be just fine for the 348 motor.

Thanks for the lead on the 3x2's anyways.

My '62 is combo of a sleeper/street-racer with some mild custom touches.
Gen 6 454 with Man A Fre induction, Muncie/Autogear M22W, 9.3" Olds 3.42 limited slip, cross drilled rotors on 4 wheel manual disc brakes, quick ratio manual steering, dropped spindles and Air Ride suspension (as hidden as possible).

Very Nice!! I love the carbs on the big block. Nice clean engine compartment; just how I like them with NO billet and NO stupid looking braided lines.

How does it handle with the Air Ride suspension?

I've seen two of these on the ground with fat tires, and I think they look great like that. This one needs different wheels & tires for my taste, but it was still good looking:

There are some great looking car's here. It sure dosn't have to be white..Black is my personal favorite color, so :D..
I said white because, well, it's basic and isn't a look at me color...It add's a lot to the sleeper look..
But honestly, any subtle factory type color would look great.
Another nice thing about doing it in this style is, a simple wheel swap and it looks like a different car..

On the ground looks good also. The paint and wheels are bit too fancy for me. I think I really like the sleeper look; the old grandma's car look. I think I will paint it a 62 color but probably not the original Twilight Turquoise.

As much as I lean towards the drag car look and our Texas Outsiders NSS racing deal, but...I have always wanted to go down Mexico way...do it up in full PanAmerica deal and make it one hell of a driver........

I'm thinking z-11 with torq thrust fronts and half n half steelies in back. Maroon with black/white houndstooth interior, radio delete, sun tach, and **** eating grin.

I love the post cars... I hope Tony finds a photo of his buddy Billy's car. That thing stopped me in my tracks the first time i saw that thing! It was sitting outside a rib joint here in Rochester and there was bikes..a 54' chevy and his car. I'll never forget that. I didn't here it run or anything but you could tell it was the beez neeze!

I like them red on red... with red wheels.
