I have a 1962 Buick special with a original v6 drive train, should I just leave it or I was thinking a small v8 like a 300 any suggestions
They came with a 215, which is the same as a 300. The 300 does have a BOP bell, so thats easy. Also the 231 V6 is derived from the 215, so it would be a more modern alternative. I'd love to build a '61/'62 with the GN 3800 Turbo.
Want a 300 and a transmission...........trade me something for it........came out of a 66/67 Buick Skylark/Special Mark
I have a 300 4v, w/a th200 in my 62 SPECIAL. U will need a 215 LH exhaust manifold, port it to match the 300 ports. and it seems to me I had to grind the back corner of the block so it would fit. The big h***le it the cutting of the floor boards, and getting rid of the 2piece drive shaft. I used a th300 first, then switched to a th200 (it was free). The drive shaft tunnel is to shallow for a normal drive shaft also, maybe you could jack the car up, after you change out the rear end. Lets not forget a new ****** crossmember too. My transmission tunnel is sliced all over the place for every lil thing on the transmission, i.e. the governor, the vacuum modulator, etc. I had a small diameter driveshaft made and it rubs if I even think of having a p***enger in the car. When I decide to pull the car out of storage (tarped and in the bushes) It'l get a new ****** tunnel, and a 8in. ford rear end. If you go through with the swap, try to get a 64 buick 300 w/the alum heads and tell everyone its a 215.
It would be cool to add a turbo and EFI. Then again if your car has a manual ****** PM me with a price for your clutch pedals and everything else that go with it. lol, Terry
I have the same car. My v6 runs great so I am leaving it for now. I may go for a 215 or 300 later on down the line. What are your plans for the car?
