Hey guys- I'm building a 62 Cadillac 390 and was wondering about cylinder head swaps. 331 heads on a 390 or anything like that. I have seen some talk about running 390 heads on the older 331's but are there any advantages to doing it the other way? or am I just wasting our time with this? Should I just build the engine the way it came? Thanks
390 heads are where its at. thats why everyone puts 390 heads on their early engine. I think moly rings need a fresh bore to seal up good.
To be honest if you have a pair of heads that aren't cracked you should do a happy dance. Carmak Riverside, Iowa
