Next, I reversed an aluminum corvair box and made a mount for it. I had to angle the box up so the steering column would clear my big feet. I also put a 6" removable extension on the steering wheel. It makes it way easier to get in/out of the car. It still is a tight squeeze. 2017-03-05 21.25.36.jpg 2017-03-05 21.23.57.jpg 2017-03-05 21.26.31.jpg 2017-03-05 21.24.30.jpg 2017-03-05 21.27.25.jpg

Visited Bill and Gary Dyer, and I had them build me a blower for the car. 2017-03-05 21.54.15.jpg 2017-03-05 21.53.37.jpg 2017-03-05 21.52.30.jpg

Wow is right. Looks great. For what started out as little more than a shell sitting on a frame it certainly is coming right along. Can't wait to see it in person someday.

Next, I made the mounting structure for the fuel cell. I found a cell that was about an inch too wide, so I cut it down to fit. 20170306_091738.jpg 20170306_091714.jpg Then, it was time to break out the stomp shear, brake, and bead roller, and start on the firewall. 2017-03-05 22.05.15.jpg

I made some strips out of .050"chromoly to attach some plate nuts to, so the floorboards would be removable. 2017-03-18 07.36.38.jpg Next up was the floorboards. 2017-03-18 07.34.51.jpg Then the transmission tunnel, kick panels, and dash. 2017-03-18 07.45.51.jpg 2017-03-18 07.46.58.jpg

Wow, time flies! I will try to post some pictures/updates here shortly. The car is really close to being done. I've been working on it continuously, and if I ever get the axle I ordered, it will be running within a couple weeks. Stay tuned.

Agree with the others in that we can't wait for the pics. Looking forward to seeing the car hopefully in 2018-hopefully at the Meltdown. Was at Autorama today and saw several restomods that were or nice quality but the only car that got the blood really pumping was a 59 Vette drag car called Clockwork Orange. Talked to the owner out of New York for for a while. Old drag car he resurrected and hopefully he will run it. Really looking forward to your efforts.

Pat I grabbed my camera just before I left and did not charge it and of course it was acting up. I have pictures that ended up like it was in motion. I got one decent picture of the rear end treatment which I liked as opposed to it with bumpers. Car is a BBC with I believe 1400 hp. He told me he has not run it yet on the track. Was an old barn find (I am bit tired of the term also) which is cool he kept it as a race car. Car is well done. Says Clockwork Orange in the cove-apparently what it was called back in the 70s as I understand it. I watched him unload it on move in day on Thursday and it sounded quite healthy. Got a picture of it from the Pittsburgh show. Owner name is Charlie Sorce from New York. Seemed like a nice guy. He told me they called yesterday to tell him the top was done. I believe it will improve the look with the top on it. Build looks pretty nice. Shop that did the work is Vintage Modified I believe. Guy that did the work was there as well. Both good guys.

Here is the pic from the Pittsburgh World of Wheels show

here is the only pic that i took that is worth a hoot-sadly. Hope Bald1 will not be too upset that I mucked up his thread.

I'm not upset at all Jim, love the pictures! I'll try to figure where I left off with the build thread and get busy here.
Here's the floor panel right behind the seats that I tied into the driveshaft tunnel.

Next, I fit the wheel tubs and put the aluminum floor panels in the trunk. 20170329_172500.jpg
Another shot from the area behind the seats:

Next, I fit the decklid after making some strategic cuts around the roll cage. 20170622_151810.jpg

Next, I decided to remove the body from the ch***is and put the ch***is on my rotisserie to finish welding it, sandblast, and paint it. 20170514_123125.jpg
    20170514_135531.jpg 20170516_090547.jpg
I also finished mounting the rear springs. 20170516_155240.jpg

After I put all the tin work back in the car, I fabricated and installed the framework for the parachute attachment, and mounted the fuel pump. 20170622_151841.jpg

Next, I decided it was time to fix the nose of the car. 20170628_091244.jpg
