Carl, I would love to see your truck up close. I am just getting started on a '37 Ford Pickup. It's 420 miles from Roseville to El Mirage

  3. Changed heads out today. These are the 113s that Greg Gordon donated to the "Cause". I hope I have done some of my better port work on these along with some work to the Mummert intake to make everything match up right. We'll see how it all works out in two weeks at El Mirage. [IMG]

I also took the advise of some of my scrub friends that said the only way to make it go fast was to install an sbc. I did! It makes for a good 240 lbs of dead weight for traction. [IMG]

Ted, you will get your parts back soon. [IMG]

Love they way that old Y Block sounds. I have my eyes on a truck right now that has a Thunderbird 312 and 4 speed in it. Can never have too many toys ya know.

  7. Yes Rich! That guy is over on the Y-Block site. 55 Fairlane that ran 145+ back in Aug. at Maxton. Not bad at all. ;)

That is some nice work on the manifold

  9. Rich, funny you should bring that one up. He just posted this yesterday on his final run of the year at Maxton. Due to wind and bad gear choices he only ran 140 this meet but as you know it takes time to sort things out and next year should be better for him.

140 is not bad. Seems like Y block guys are determined to push lots of air. I'll make you the same offer I made Buddy. Want to borrow My Vega. First come gets it. RF

  11. Packard powered Vega is a tempting offer, I think Tman would like that.

  12. Tom and I discussed the idea. Since you are closer I think a Yblock powered Vega would work even better.

That 55 Fairlane is SWEET, I've been looking for one to build for several years but they are as rare as hen's teeth around here. It's the car my dad and I were going to buy when his leukemia was in remission but we never got the chance because it came back and took him from us.

The Packard has moved on to a new home in the north. Big empty engine compartment has held a 302/270 GMC. 460 Ford. 455 pontiac. 392 Chrysler and the Packard. Lots of room for a FlatCad or a Y block. Why not?

  15. Maybe Carl can put a flatty in it? There ya go!

  16. I see. That would be interesting but for now I'm gonna see this pickup class through. ;)

What class would a Y powered Vega run under? and what is the record? (D that is)

    Looks like fun. Be safe...

  25. That hauler is sexy!

  26. Dig the rig...you'll never outgrow an F-350 Super cab with a 460! I'm working this weekend, but hoping for some real-time updates! :D

  27. Well, the new tow rig seems to have fit the bill, and arrived safely at a dry Elmo...

1st run through the mufflers today was 122...I'll do my best to keep the updates coming

  28. Had a real good weekend. Spent all of Friday getting the "new rig" ready, drove down to Elmo in the rain at midnight with no promise of good weather to race in then had one of the best meets ever! Less cars means more runs for me! Five passes, faster the second day than the first, with nothing broken. Good times.

Ran a best of 126.5, no shame, I wanted 130 before the season was out but the truck ran good and strong. I can't help the fact that with a 150 line # the coarse is all tore up by the time I get to it.

Jake and the "Brew 102" car. Two good ol' Fords. The '53 Customline is running a 262 Ford six, did a best of 120 in XO/PRO.

This is Land Speed Racing! Modifying parts in the field. Jackie is doing her job also, note the tennis ball in her mouth.

Now the air box fits the Mummert intake.
