I need to pick some of these great minds out here on the H.A.M.B. I am currently building a "mild custom" (i.e. Family Truckster) '62 Monterey Wagon. I have the chassis mostly complete and now it is time to start body work. As you may or may not be able to see in the photo. I need Rockers, Rear Quarters and a Floor Pan. I have found plenty of sources for replacement / repopped rockers. Does any know of someone selling replacement rear quarters or floor pans??? If worse comes to worst, I think I can fab the quarters fairly easily, but I would like to find floor pans that will work. Also, are the 60-64 Galaxie floor pans the same as the Monterey? The chassis are nearly identical, so I thought the floor pans might be really similar. I have found a couple of sources for those. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Wow! I dig Monterey wagons! I have a '63 Colony Park. As far as what your looking for, try www.lincolnlandinc.com . I'll bet they can hook you up with anything Monterey. Ask for Chris or John.
Love the loongroofs. Mine is a 63,5 S55vert but I'd like a longroof too. Check this out, mite help you. http://www.shermanparts.com/index.html
Thanks for the info. Great Sources guys. Does anyone know if the Galaxie floor pan is the same as the Monterey?
I too would agree that the Merc pans would be same as Galaxie, as I have both and the passenger compartments are pretty much the same.
I sold my 62 Merc wagon 6 months ago and am building a 62 Merc convertible so I have done a lot of searching for parts. The floorplans on the Galaxie are the same. I have a source for a used Passenger side floorplan from a 62 Mercury as I took the driver side already. Send me a PM for info. You are out of luck on the quarter panels unless you can find another wagon which is rare. Let me know if you need any other parts.
I think floorpans are the same Ford and Merc 60-64. I have a 61 Meteor wagon and am looking for the rear quarters or patches too. All i can find is small sections of them. I need the whole wheel arch area. http://www.classicsheetmetal.com/ford61and62.html
Hello, I called the other day. This cam I installed does not have much of a gallop. It has the adjustable rocker arms. I was wondering if the lifters were not adjusted correctly. The car Idles fine and responds fine. It just doesn't sound like my mustang with the same cam. You can tell it has a performance cam. Any suggestions? ADVERTISED DURATION (INT/EXH): 292°/302° DURATION At .050" (INT/EXH): 214°/224° VALVE LIFT (W/1.73 Rockers): .512"/.538" OVERLAP: 73° CENTER LINE: 112° RPM RANGE: 1700-5500
Steve, There is alot more than just the cam that goes into the sound an engine produces. My first question would be is there a displacement difference between the new motor and the Mustang? A lumpy, knarly cam in a 352 may seem quite docile in a 428. Compression, exhaust system design and layout, and timing all play a role in the sound. If the car drives and idles fine, I wouldn't worry about it. The cam specs you listed do not seem to me to be all that aggressive for a larger displacement FE. For the rest of the folks, interested in this old thread. I did get the floors done, along with the rest of the car.
