I'm looking for a new project and ran accross a 1962 olds 88 convertible. The guy is asking $6800. I wanted an impala but happend onto this Olds in my search. The body seems solid, except some rust bubbles in one quarter but not bad. Interior is nice original, newer paint job that still looks good. He says it runs good. Looks like it has a 455 in place of the 394. All trim is there and nice. New white top.

Is there any after market parts for these cars?

    Is $6800. a deal?

    I need to act fast.

All I know is a '62 88 is VERY cool, and convertible is awesome. If the car is as you say plus running good, sounds fair. Maybe offer him 6 for it? Either way, very cool cars. They were born to run low with a set of astro's.

$6800 is a fair price for a convertable in good condition. Seen them sell as high as $15,000 +. Parts are available but are scarce. Attached is a pic if my dads 62 Super 88 Holiday hardtop.

I owened a 62 convertable in the late 60s . loved it but i had a hard time keeping the slim jim auto traney working.I replaced 3 or 4 befor I got rid of it.I recall traney would let go fast if overheated ,Dont know if a cooler would have helped or not.
