I doubt that would be possible, this is a unibody car with removable f & r crossmembers that have the complete suspension for either end..

If you have an early hurst mount it's only designed for 55-60 engines. I don't think that would help. I believe the crossmember is more under the engine than out in front to use the hurst mount. With that being said, I have a 60' cover I have to put on my 66 389 to use the hurst mount I have. I wouldn't use it on an aluminum cover though. And since 55-59 is reverse cooling hench the reason for the 60 cover, after that is aluminum.

  2. Here's a picture of the one Lakester47 and I built. It looks very near original except for the wheels ( look at the offset on the rear ones)but let me back up what Jim said in his post ....THIS IS NOT A WEEKEND BUILT. The articles in the early rod magazines covering Mickey Thompson's conversion make it look simple. I think I would build the car Based around the 4 cylinder. I have another friend that set several national records with a 4 cylinder 62 Tempest then put the motor in a very light 62/2 dr. Nova, then set several Gas cl*** records. Those motors will make lots of Power.

My vote as if it counts.....do the 4
I've been looking into them a lot lately. Don't know why since I don't have any money....like everyone else. Just dreaming of a cool HA/GR.... Anyways, I found some cool pictures and a 4 barrel intake for one.
    Nice looking car.
    Have fun

4 barrel intake = ebay (you have 3 days to make up your mind)

It takes the same as the other motors I believe,,as its 1/2 a motor

  7. Yep, as I noted earlier, head, valvetrain, exhaust manifold, rods, pistons all the same as any Pontiac V8. The valve covers do differ somewhat over the years but you can make the later ones work.

Maybe that's why I have one lone M/T I picked up ages ago and can't find a mate -

The Pontiac used the 7/16" lugs, so you should be able to find a set of Mopar 7/16" (Dart/Valiant!!!) and use those.

  11. This is a 63, but it's the same design. Took 8 months to put it together from a hulk. Turns 11 teens...

Hi i did warranty work on these engines when new. The only real problems were the timing chain and rubber bumpers, spring setup,to keep the slack out of the chain. There was a lot of jerking on the chain. If you can fit a gear to gear setup it would make a good engine,if not its gona be hard to keep it in time. Just my opinion. JOBOB;)

There is a 62 at my cousins yard with a solid rear and whats left of a 455. I only remember the damn thing cause a friend needed original rear parts and we saw this one was modified. If need be I can take some pics of how it's mounted when I'm out there.

You do remember your car was the whole basis for the "My cousin Vinnie" movie right?

I vote for the four too, but them I am odd. There is a version called the "Indy Four" that might be worth researching.
And this site may help too:
