my 62 has a stock 170 , with a new-starter,,carbrebuild, plugs,wires,cap,rotor,pertronix,valves adjusted,k&n,and some other stuff above50f shell fire and keep running bellow that she'll fire after a butt load of pumps on the chock when kicking the starter but not stay running , need some suggestions please Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. Choke needs adjusting.... Older Fords are notorious for being cold-blooded. Make sure the fast-idle cam is working and everything moves freely.
Is the accelerator pump in the carb working? Look down the carb throat (engine off) and see if you get a good stream from the accelerator pump. Don't recall which carb it was but 1 carb had a "left turn" in the accelerator pump circuit that would plug up and normal carb rebuilding wouldn't clean it out. You had to drive a plug out of the carb to get access to that circuit to clean it out. If the accelerator pump has a poor stream that may be your problem.
