62 ranchero cold start issues!!

  1. my 62 has a stock 170 , with a new-starter,,carbrebuild, plugs,wires,cap,rotor,pertronix,valves adjusted,k&n,and some other stuff above50f shell fire and keep running bellow that she'll fire after a butt load of pumps on the chock when kicking the starter but not stay running , need some suggestions please

  2. Choke needs adjusting.... Older Fords are notorious for being cold-blooded. Make sure the fast-idle cam is working and everything moves freely.

    Check for vacuum leaks.

    Is the accelerator pump in the carb working? Look down the carb throat (engine off) and see if you get a good stream from the accelerator pump. Don't recall which carb it was but 1 carb had a "left turn" in the accelerator pump circuit that would plug up and normal carb rebuilding wouldn't clean it out. You had to drive a plug out of the carb to get access to that circuit to clean it out. If the accelerator pump has a poor stream that may be your problem.
