Good morning all, new to this forum but it appears you folks have all the answers. Just bought a clean little 62 Skylark and not ashame to admit my age but back in 62 one like it was the first new car I ever bought. The car has a stuck motor because of a blown head gasket and water setting in the cylinder causing rust. Car has been in storage since 85. The motor I can handle but as I took things apart this weekend I notice it had a electric fuel pump and the old pump port blocked off. Are stock fuel pumps available? Secondly it has a power brake booster that I would like to have rebuilt. I have never seen one like this and since my first car did not have power brakes I know nothing about it. It has exposed bellows. I look through Hemmings and found that everyone that list rebuilding services do not include this year. Can anyone ID the booster by my descripton or do you need photos? I am sure I will have more question as I proceed with the rebuild. Thanks in advance, Mike Clear Lake Shores TX
Hi,Capt. Mechanical fuel pumps are still available. For that and all other engine parts try www.aluminumv8.com - they are good people and have endless knowledge and parts for the aluminum V8s. Don't know about the booster, but I would have to think they are available. If not, conversion to manual brakes is an option.
