the sanding part really sucked, but yes they sure do look good when done! thanks, but dont let me stop you from using the same colors on yours i had to read this a few times to understand it! but now i get it. thanks and yes what goes around comes around.
So i finally got the tickin noise from the rear end taken care of. I replaced all the bearings and suspect it was a wheel bearing that singing to me back there. the 3rd member looked really good and so did the axles. Now to battle the oil pump issues!
Man Ryan that thing is looooooking good. It's just like Billy Gibbons said. Bad bad bad bad bad and nation wide. BTW Thanks for the offer for me and Marty to travel with you to the roundup but no way man. They won't even notice my old Riv next to the Caddy.
I ve been having some oil pump issues lately now. i tore apart the pump and inspected the gears and pressure valve. everything looks really good. oil is supper clean, no metallic or anything funky. I was running 10 30 w oil and after talking with a old engine builder in the area, i decided to change out the oil and run some 20 w 50 with a new sending unit and wix filter. i don't have any engine bearing noise or lifter noise. only low pressure when i come to a stop and the idiot light will come on. as soon as you blip the gas it comes right back up. after changing the oil I'm at a steady 20-25 psi now and no light on. so far so good.
pulled the fuel tank, gauge was not working. sender was messed up. i found a new one and in the mean time cleaned up the straps and vent tubes and re-painted them. ordered some new weather striping from ed, at weather striping specialist. waiting for the reveal scrapers to show. i got the roof rail and window ones done today. pics will be up later.....
Awesome Caddi! I really like the smoothed out firewall. Do you have any pics of the process you went through on the cleaning up the firewall?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> What modifications were made to the heater system to make the firewall modifications possible?
actually. no i don't. i kinda got caught up in the moment and didn't snap any. the only modifications , where to remove all that shit from the fire wall and removed all the parts inside the car also. i searched at my local o'reilly's and found a 3/4" heater hose that i believe is for a diesel. it was performed in the perfect shape to by pass the heater core. it ran from the back of the water pump to the cross over tube between the heads. thanks. i only took me 5 years to accomplish what you did in 5 months!
thanks. i got the fuel sender installed and re mounted the tank. made new sending wires and re-did the fuel lines. also pulled the carpet out and line-xed the floors. will add some pics later.
got the underlayment and carpet installed, not crazy about the fit, but will deal with that after the round up! build the kick panels and installed the speakers. hopefully get to the center console tomorrow. also pulled the fuel tank, installed new sender and repainted.
finished up the fiberglass center counsel. got all the interior cleaned up and installed. rebuilt the carb again. i think i found out the main problem. the accelerator pump is too big of a diameter. i need to find and original leather style assembly. the one that came in the cater kit was sticking after the bowl tapered. got all my weather striping done, finally from ed at weatherstripingspecilist.com hopefully be able to get some miles on the ol'girl before we head to the round up on Tuesday.
ive logged about 70 miles on the ol girl yesterday. still have a bog that is driving me nuts. got my spares rounded up an dam ready to hit the open road south bound, austin tx!!
Looks real sweet. A little different than when I saw it last year going out to Viva when we stoped by
my 64 had a problem with the fram oil filters... if you read the manual it should only have like 6 pounds of oil pressure at idle and like 35 under load... edelbrock 750 carbs really wake these engines up too.. also mine bitched until the 20w50 oil was in it as well, weird
Your Cad is done right. Thank you for running the Truespokes too. On the right car they look terrific.
car is now listed in the classifieds. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=522873&highlight=cadillac just got back from the hunnert car pile up with it. ran awesome. fun car , just need the money to finish the next project.
