Hi guys, im in the process of putting a Chevy 305ci V8 into my 63 Chevy C10, can anyone tell me is there an engine mount that fits both the 305 V8 and the 230ci 6 cylinder ch***is mounted brackets? or is it a case of making up new brackets for the 305 to fit to using original 305 mounts. Is there a kit for sale that fits the v8 to the 63 C10 ch***is ???? Any info would be a great help.

    Cheers Kev

63 had a side mounted v/8 should be able to use them if you are going with a/t just fab up arear crossmember for trans mount. this isn't rocket science ormost of us on here couldn't do it tom

  3. The 6 cylinder truck as well as the V-8 had one welded mount and one bolted mount on the frame, you find a V-8 frame mount and then use side mounts for a '68 Camaro.

Rams horn manifolds are the manifold of choice or headmon makes nice headers for around 250.00

    Kev,
The frame mounts are the same and 6 cylinder uses the same engine mounts you just have to unbolt the rubber mount from the 6's bracket and bolt to the v8 real easy swap.
    Good luck and cheers!

I just looked at the 6 cylinder mounts and the V8 mounts and the 6 cylinder ones wont fit the V8 because of the V shape on the block and it would put the engine mount at a different angle, am I right or wrong on that count? im new to this so please be patient with me lol

Even the rubber mounts are different, the 305 V8 is from a 83 Iroc Camaro if that helps?

  7. Read my post.

Your late model used a shell and biscuit, the earlier mount is not like the late mount.

Buy new mount pads for the 63 truck. Bolt them to the engine. Bolt the engine into the truck. It don't get no easier.

I just checked the frame mounts and they are both bolted on to the ch***is. So basically nothing I have is any good for the V8, so I need frame and engine mounts and rubbers?

Hey there Kev. Post some pics of what you have and maybe the fellas can walk you through what you need. This should be a really simple swap. It's just a matter of knowing which parts go together.

It looks exactly like we expected it to look.

Take whatever mounts are on the V8 engine, off of the V8 engine and throw them away.

take the engine mount brackets off the 6 cyl engine, and throw them away.

Now do you see how the pads you have already, will bolt right to the V8 engine? it could not be more simple, but I guess it's impossible to explain?

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY ANY ADAPTER PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all you have to do is leave the frame brackets bolted to the frame, where they already are. Bolt 1963 motor mount pads to the engine, and bolt the engine into the truck.

The V8 has nothing on it Squirrel? I think im slowly getting it but would the V8 be in the correct place if I used the existing frame brackets as there are extra holes for the V8 brackets further foward?

A few of us have many of these swaps under our belts. Just do what Jim suggests and you'll be okay.

Yes Jim I can understand that now, but was asking why there was another separate set of bolt holes for another V8 mounting bracket further forward to the existing bracket.

I think it might be for the GMC trucks, which use a different engine (big V6). But I'm not sure. In later years, the 292 and small block used some of the other mount holes, but not in 1963.

I try not to worry about things that don't matter....like extra holes in a truck frame. There are lots of them!

You might have it figured out already but if not, maybe this will help.

Just trying to help. Sometimes this stuff is easy if you've done it a time or two, but if you haven't, it may be hard to visualize and see "what" goes "where" and how the parts work together. Best of luck to you.

It should. If not, then the mount you need is the one that squirrel provided a link to, but I'm pretty sure it's the same.

  30. Ha I forgot about the stock engine mounts my last truck had frame mounts in it that took the Camaro style side mounts when I got it.

Clean Kev disregard my other two posts. They will only ad to the confusion.
