    Hi HAMBers,

I recently picked up a 1963 Chevy C60 with a 327 and Clark 5-speed. The truck needs a new brake master cylinder and i’d like to upgrade from the single pot unit to a dual reservoir setup all at once. Does anyone have recommendations for an OEM style upgrade or maybe recommendations on later-model parts that will adapt with a few mods? Its drums all around and currently manual brakes. New to everything with these trucks and not sure how to proceed.

    Thanks

First you'll need to figure out how you'll get two isolated outlets from the Hydrovac ....

Napa used to cary all the parts including rebuilt hydrovac units. My 64 was only single circuit from the master to the hydrovac. After that it was 2 from the hydrovac to the brakes. Wierd set up. Look under the drivers side running board and frame for the hydrovac unit. Oh there is nothing cheap or easy about these brakes!

Building a dolly for the duals out of 3/4 pipe & 4 generator bearings is easy ...

  5. I converted my 63 Chevy wagon to drum drum dual master a couple years ago using a MC from a BelAir that was just a couple years older. Worked great. I had to do some minor brake line bending, but overall it was pretty easy.
I put on disc brakes last year and switched to a disc drum master, but I still have the drum drum if you want it.
