just wanted to see if it could be done. saw this artist rendering from steve stanford and had to try it. started out with two terrible cars because wasnt sure it would work but as of now i believe it is gonna come together. lost pics of tops being removed and some of the fitting of the corvair top due to a curious 5 yr old (gotta love grand kids though). the toughest part thus far is trying to make the 1/4 gl***es work with the original tracks and windows. i think i will have to remake the 1/4 gl***es out of flat gl*** instead of the original curved pieces but by doing this it will make the door gl***es easier i believe. everybody thinks i'm crazy for even doing things like this but this is what i enjoy, my relaxation fix so to speak. undecided on whether to build a custom ch***is /floor pans or thought about transplanting on a later unibody platform. any way just wanted to p*** this along
That rendering is cool looking, and it looks like you are making good progress on it, I really like it!
Looks good, I saw a similar YOM fastback Nova on the forum recently but can't locate it, here's another with Rambler roof.
That looks excellent. Now you have a good idea that it'll work, would it make sense to start with a better Chevy II?
really thought a lot on this question, i think where it stands now i can upgrade by building a tube ch***is or use a later unibody set up from a camaro/firebird/gto which would greatly improve the handling of these cars. if i build a tube ch***is i would have to rework the floors/trunk as i would widen rear wheel wells for bigger tires so with that being said i think it would be *** for tat on the labor to repair. i guess i'll know in the end .
IIRC the fastback section was hand made(fibergl***). For those who are interested; Google this car, very interesting history. Always liked this photo.
Bet you could d**** that body over a Pontiac G2 or an HHR ch***is that way you don't have to worry about the floors or supports................sure is a neat project
The rendering has a bubble top feel to it, the red one above, not so much so. Have to see it with front sheetmetal to have final judgement. Aren't the Pontiac G2 and HHR both FWD? Not your typical hot rod ch***is....
When Steve draws a concept he does not doubt that it can be built. When you complete it, you will prove him correct! Best of luck with the build, I think it will be great. KK
thanks guys for all the positive comments. the nova body was a race car at one time, someone just torched off the firewall, 1/4's,rear of rockers off for bigger meats to fit underneath. i removed the floors and abomination they called sub frame connectors. guy i got it from said he had it in his salvage yard since about '82. sat outside, on the ground with no suspension and uncovered all those years and thats why it is so rusted. but i got the corvair and the nova cheap, cheap so as to try this out. anybody on here have a p*** side 1/4 gl*** for the corvair? i believe it's a 66 model hardtop. if you do i'd be interested in it as mine was gone. thanks in advance hot rust oh yea, any suggestions as to what dash you would swap into this? i would really like to have another type in it, the original looks terrible to me.
