I bought a 63 comet 4 door probably two years ago and am just nowgetting around to doing something with it, Im in the process of doing the body work and have ran into rotten quarters, it doesnt climb up into the body lines, so all i really need is the lower rear portion, and through the wheel well portion on the other side, would I be able to get away with using falcon quarters for the portion of what i need to replace?
if it's the rear quarters we're talking about, no. the wheel arches are different. i found that out by buying falcon fender skirts for my comet... someone else will have to chime in on the fronts.
yeah im talking about the rear, so the search continues for sheet metal, fudge (only i didnt say fudge)
http://www.mercurycometparts.com/ Might try here, also Owens Salvage, or even Dearborn Classics. Being a 4 door you may have to go the salvage route. Check EEK! Bay and see as well. If you are just needing certain panels, they may be good enough to fabricate.
Hey, I don't wanna piss in your cup and tell ya it's lemonade, but the chances of finding good, dry quarter for something this age are next to slim and none, slim just got aboard the bus leavin' town! Why not build them yourself? I don't recall this area on these having alot of shape, mostly some soft crowns and a flange where it spotwelds to the inner extension, no? You can form the wheelhouse flare over some round stock or a hammer and dolly. Jus' a thought! " The icecream truck in his neighborhood plays Helter-Skelter ''
