    a couple things.

    1. Does anyone know of anybody in WA that does drop axles? Or is there a good online source to buy an already dropped axle?

    2. Does anyone have any info on putting a mustang 9" dropout rearend in one of these truck?

    3. What is the easiest way to figure out which rearend I have? I'm not familiar with the older integral ford rearends like in this truck.

Thanks in advance look forward to any info.

I have a 63 short bed unibody also. Those trucks came with 9" rear ends from the factory. They used a big bearing, 28 spline axle, and the standard 9" dropout. I don't know for sure but I think the truck used a larger U-joint the a car.
    Hope this helps.

It must have been swapped at one time or another. All 1/2 ton Ford PUs used a 9" rear from 1957 till 1972 with very few exceptions. Does it have 5 lug nuts or 8? If it has 8, it's a 3/4 ton, most likely a dana-60

Looks like it has been swapped for a 73 or newer rear end. From 73 on Ford used the Dana-60 style (removable cover on the back side) in the 1/2 ton.
