start with the easy stuff and work your way from there.is the bulb good? try it in another socket.is the socket good? some times the contacts get corroded.is the socket grounded properly? is the turn signal flasher itself good? try another one from a different car, most of'em have 3 prongs and should swap.

  3. Do both brake lights work? I'd guess no. The Turn signals and brake lights share circuits. As stated before check the easy*****.. bulbs, grounds, etc. If the socket is corroded, it still may light but be really dim. If the same one comes on for either direction, you can try a flasher, but it can be a short in the switch or its wiring, or the actual wiring to the lights. I had one where the wires going to the lights themselves got pinched, my TS switch melted and my running lights went on front and rear when the brakes were applied but no brake lights. That harness runs down the middle of the car on the inside so if hes changed seats, shifter, etc, it may have caught the harness.

60's fords with aluminium tailight buckets are notorius for bad earths to the body,(every one ive mucked with anyway...) they usually attach behind one of the bucket mounting nuts, take it off and make sure there is bright bare metal there for a good earth..just rub it with some sandpaper. might not be the problem but i'd almost bet on it.

ya the brakelights don't work. they did, i know the sockets are good, blubs are good, so we will check the ground, switch and harness.

its a bench seat so the harness runs down the side. but we will check. So if anyone has anymore suggestions, bring them on!! Thanks.

  6. If its the flasher switch and its anything like my '65 (most likely is) its a******. Little square metal box, under the dash. They can be retrofitted, but if ya gotta get in there anyway...
If it is working in the front and not in the back then it is probably a wireing problem, or with any luck a bad ground or socket. The early to mid sixties fords were notorious for loosing the plug through the firewall. [IMG]

  7. check to make sure all the connectors are ok. my '64 panel truck had a through the firewall connector to the rear lights (3 wire) and only the driving lights didn't work. the person ran a toggle switch and new wires to the rear (luck for me he didn't hack the wires or connectors). i just traced it from the rear back until i found the problem, cleaned the pins/connector, removed his*****, hooked everything back up and i now have running lights. 1 other thing is chevrolets of the 60's used the housing as a ground and they do get dirty. i soldered a wire on the underside and ran it to a ground.

got a spare turn signal switch lying around?
one you could just "slave" in to see if thats the problem.
    sounds like it might be.
