Did a double take on my way home from work tonight when I spotted this '63 Riviera. Doubled back to snap a few shots and talk to the seller. He said it had been sitting stored for like 20 years. Pretty rough looking but surprisingly complete. Non-running but he said the motor will turn. Claims it to be a 425, or maybe would it have been a 401? I'm guessing a Super Turbine trans since the shift indicator only shows D and L. No A/C but it looks like all the other accessory brackets are still in place. The interior is pretty well blasted but all the neat little shiny bits seem to be there. Console, shifter, AM radio and cluster are all there. The trunk floor is going away but I didn't bother to look underneath at the floor pan. Bottoms of the fenders, quarters and rockers have some rust thru, as does the front edge of the hood. But the doors look pretty good, at least from the outside of the car. I'd call it a coin flip between a serious project and a donor car. It's not my car and I don't know the owner or the seller. It just looked like an interesting piece that might be of value to someone here. It's located a few miles east of Ft. Wayne Indiana, near New Haven. Said $2,000 on the windshield and the phone number is 260-740-9895.
Ive seen them a little chaeper than that but they are really good lookin cars when done right. See if you could talk him down a little. Take a pocket full of cash of wave it around a few times. He might just bite.
Early Rivs are definitely one of the best looking American cars ever. But I've got more than enough clutter in my life already and I'm a bit short of disposable income! I'm guessing there might be a little wiggle room in the price and thought somebody else might be looking for a pile of parts.
Just a one-time bump for the start of a new week. Car was still there earlier today if anyone's needing a rolling pile of early Riviera parts.
Man I love the Rivieras...mine was a driver with very little rust and a very rough interior but all of the trim was good and as stated only minor rust and I picked it up for 2800...many thousands later it's where you see it today in my avatar...I have seen much more solid pieces out here for 1800-3500 pretty routinely...having grown up in Fort Wayne it's a wonder that there is any of that Rivi left to salvage...the salt and snow back there is brutal...
