Hey guys one more question my comet is the stock red color was thinking of painting it with a real real bright white any thoughts on this think it would look good with alll the chrome the car has but the red is so nice too what to do?

White always looks good on Fords and Mercurys. So does red... Kinda all in what you want.
My first comet was White. I might paint mine black this time.

Nothing like Roy's but this was my first time to pull the wheels. I made it to semi finals and ran two back to back 11.558's. This was also my maiden voyage with the Jerico and soft loc.

Looked real strong out there Roy! ...The track commentator still keeps calling it a Cyclone with a 347 though :)

zombie289;Thanks,I was having a lot of problems out there, main reason to go test!!!The tech sheet just asks for make and model, guess I should put Caliente instead of Comet!I guess they didn't read the cubic inch part of the tech sheet!!I have not had time to check the electrical system yet, tomorrows job!! Jody,
I am going to try to make this show, looks like it could be a lot of fun. I am guessing you posted it on the 428cobrajet forum as well?

Myron;the only ass kicking was the Comet kicking my ass!!! I had a lot of issues Thursday night, figured I might have to tweak a few things, but it looks like I have some work to do!!Only got it to the line three times, had to abort two,the car took care of ending the third pass when it shut itself off!!! The new engine feels real strong,on the second pass even with shutting it off in third it went as quick and as fast as the little engine on a full pass!!! ROY.

  12. Yes I did. I'm getting a great response. Please spread the word. The more cars the better.

Also, folks don't need to race to be part of the fun. Just bring your FE powered car and pay the spectator entry fee then park at the FE area in the pits.

you guys need to see what happened when the driver let the clutch out on that brown 64 comet. If i'm not mistaken he put it on the back bumper (I was standing right behind it in the staging lanes). this was takin at the super stock nationals in '66 or '67 at cecil county, I think jan-cen automotive sponsored the car. later, matt.

Supposed to be a 106 degrees here today, feel it might be a great opportunity to street-drive the Comet down to the NHRA Museum cruise. Figure its as good a chance as any to check the reliability on such a hot day......Taking bets on what temps I'll see on the gauge--:D

You hit it spot on, Roy! Slow, easy drive, 200-205. Car totally proved itself out!!! I could not be more happy. Especially when they chose the car for top honors at the cruise!! Bob McClelland interviewed me on the podium, what a class act that man is!!! I also got to spend some time talking with Bob Maravez, one of the Freight Train pilots:

Roy- we have a "hall pass" to hang out at the NHRA booth with Floyd Lippincott Jr, at the Reunion. Bot he and his wife are very nice folks.

Pucker bushes!! That's a good laugh. I told Bob where we all would be camped out, in the neighbors orchard, 'cause none of us owned a cackle-car! Told him asphalt was an expensive commodity..

Dale;we could put some nitro in the Rocket and it will cackle, for a while!!!!!With the money they make on just the MM and CHRR in "camping" fees, you would think they could pave the rest of the pits!!!!! ROY.

Merritt;my Comet is being a MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS!!! I have never had this much trouble with my Comet in 44 years!!!! We took it out last Thursday for a T&T session, had clutch issues, then the engine just quit on a pass, started right up after I got off the track, plus the front suspension is doing some weird crap!! I completely rebuilt the clutch linkage, now the pedal sticks to the floor,WTF!!I gutted the ignition/start harness, opened the dash, nothing obvious, replaced the original ignition switch with an NOS one, cleaned all the grounds, ohmed wires, don't know.Took it for a couple of short drives tonight, ignition works great!Need to figure out the clutch and front end!!! ROY.

I understand the"fun", it's really tough when things you didn't mess with bite you.

My buddies and I have become way too good at changing torque converters. I hope the converter works the way I want this time. No bodies fault but mine.

George;sorry to hear you are going to the DARK SIDE!!!! I would think it would be easier to just find a solid 385 series engine and put your intake and exhaust on and drive it!Trust me,the Chevy guys have plenty of issues too,I've spent more time than I like to admit, working on the government motors cars trying to keep/get them running!!! ROY.
