Looking for some Prayers for Mine and Fast Eddies Friend Dale Schroeder. Dale has the 64 T-Bolt Tribute Race car . Dale was involved in a wreck in his T-Bolt this last weekend out at Julesburg Dragway. Something happened to his car at the end of the track after winning his race, It took a hard right turn and rolled 6 times. I just found out tonight his wife Sandy called asking for Prayers. A couple of compresion fractures in his back, three broke ribs, and a punctured lung. I guess he has been in and out of critical condition. Dale, Eddie and myself were going to race Julesburg this next weekend and then get ready to Caravan out to Cal. Hot Rod reunion. I dont want to lose another friend this year, You better make it Dale.

Very sorry to hear about Dale, and will keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated on his recovery. Has anyone figured out what went wrong that caused the car to crash?

    Regards,
    Dennis

    Dale Update

Sounds like he is starting to come around, sat up this morning.I guess he has a broken collar bone also and fighting some fever issues. Family was able to talk to him. So looking good so far. Hopefully will get to see him over the weekend.

As for the car, still unkown. I guess he was probably doing about 125, and it happened right when he had deaccellarated after going through the traps. I guess NHRA kept the car at Julesburg wanting to go over it to see what happened. Not sure how long that will take. Have offered to tow the car back to Denver, maybe this next weekend.

Thanks for all the prayers, His wife Sandy was really worried about last night.

    I'll keep everyone updated. Ken

    Dale Update

    Looking better and better

Started walking around today, I guess it was some kind of staff infection that he was fighting wed/thur. But at least he is up and moving, along with the other injuries he has a broken collar bone also.

The car had a Full cage and Window net and Dale had his full face Helmet on. Sounds like the car rolled over twice on the ground and then three times it went into the air each time hitting the ground on the drivers side. All of Dales injuries are on his left side.

Hopfully out of the Hospital this next Tue, Sounds like it may be a lengthy time in Rehab. Dale says he is still going to The California Hot Rod Reunion, So he still has the spirit.

Again Sandy says thanks for all the prayers.

How about some old time Comet pics.

Did we ever figure out which Original comet this was? Is this The Moyer 65 Comet?

    The McCormick 65

    @ Mercuryjunky,
    Aloha!,
You've contributed a lot to this thread, and have some great knowledge, and I'd like to enlist your input in this project I'm working on with Dennis and Steve. I'm building a registry that tracks the history of the 1964-65 factory A/FX and B/FX Comets, and the HiPo Comets of '64 also. If you're interested, send me a message at no1musclecar at Yah00 dot com and in the next couple days I will have the latest iteration of the registry for your perusal.
    Mahalo,
    Robert

If I recall Rick Kirk has the former 1965 Moyer AFX Comet. This was the car he was claiming was Hayden Proffitt's until it was proven otherwise. I never saw any photos of it or personally inspected it so I can't say if it was AWB.

Was the McCormick AWB car repaired after it rolled? Was the McCormick car built from a factory AFX car, or from a production car? I can tell you it wasn't Nicholson's, Proffitts, Beswick's, DeLorean's, Rachanski's, or Schartman's. Time to start looking through Drag News and other publications.

A picture of the McCormack car is in Drag News - April 22 1966 pg 23.

    Regards,
    Dennis

That hood came out late in the 65 model run on Cyclones. It was a preview of the 66/67 Cyclone hood, good looking but not functional. The inner hood structure ran under the scoop blocking off most of the scoop..The hood was fiberglass, not much lighter than a steel hood.Very expensive to buy a used one now!!! Anybody know where this car ended up? It was on Ebay, then a local Phila. guy had it and then it was on Ebay again. Just curious.
