By the way we were talking 2600 lbs with a 289 ci engine! Any more ci you had to add 9.0# lbs per cubic inch. When the Comet was weighted it was 48% on the rear end and 52% on the front. That why they came off the line so good. ____________Have a good day AFX DAVE__________________

I have noticed that no other car at the track launches like a Comet. They seem to leap out of the hole!Wasn't there a Ford called the "Frog"?

Boy I wish I could have made it down the to CHRR. I am glad Roy is getting his car running like it should and that 10.44 is pretty stout! I would have liked to see Ken's car in person and meet him also. Fun to actually meet the people in person that we read posts about on here.

My 65 comet must be a tank. It was 3440 lbs with my 165 self in it last year. Roy says it is my Cleveland! I am taking some weight out now and plan on putting on some Crites fiberglass bumpers this winter. Brian

The Factory AFX & BFX Comets Body's were NOT Acid Dipped! Thy also did not use sound deadner, body sealer, dun dum what ever you call it! The body's of a few Dodges and Plymouth were acid dipped. Of which destroyed the body for later restoration (Rusted Out). P.S. I heard the 2 door 6 cylinder 1965 Dodge and Plymouth are the New Collector Car because so many were made into SS & AFX Clones. _________Yours truly AFX DAVE__________

Too bad we wouldnt of had E-Coating back then would of saved those Chrysler products from rotting...
on 1/4 mile subject, watched a 408 windsor n/a c4 drag radial no bars street fox body thru mufflers foot braking run a couple high 10.40@126 passes yesterday at Ubly Dragway...I thought it was quite impressive..

This is the same way my factory drag, sealer delete, 65 Fairlane is. I can't belive how many gaps there are. This car leaks EVERYWHERE.

  11. Just checked the ladder for todays race Roy and Ken are racing each other first round. Dale and another comet did not make the top 16.

  12. Roy and Ken did not race each other. Not sure if how Roy did but Ken won his round. The injected black 65 ran a 9.61 this morning.

Ken just had a red light and Roy just missed the win in the semi finals. I am not sure about Dale? I must have missed his run. Kind of hard to sit here and watch on a computer screen all day.

It was still a good weekend for the 64-65 Comets. Brian

Just in earlier today. What a weekend for Comets!!!! Thats me on the pit bike in that photo!!

Talk about a bitchin trip!! Roy went into the semis, but we already bailed and hit the road. I did not qualify for the quick sixteen field, but still had an awesome time. Hoffmans Comet put it through the floorboards with that 9.61 @ 136 (?) And hanging with Ken, Eddie, Roy and the Hilliers from Washington (they landed a feature story this morning, and Hoffmans is due for one out at Mooneyes, so congrats to both!!!)An epic weekend for the Comets! I've got some really incredible pit shots that'll knock you on the floor!! Downloading them now. Kens car is beyond anything I've seen for build quality for a racecar. Handsdown- my favorite car there at the event!!! Congatulations to Roy for marching into the semis, after all we were going to do in the beginning was just go have some fun, and run exibition:)!!! Some great stories will be coming from this event, as there were many, from moonshine swilling to campfire shenanigans in the weeee hours of the morning something about gap-toothed blonds and braces??)

Good stuff, and hope everyone arrives home safe. Stay tuned!!

Thanks for the updates Dale! It sounds like you had a great time. I would love to see Ken's car in person. Yours is amazing so I can't even imagine his. All of the Comets looked great. I bet Roy was pumped up after having so many problems? I look forward to more pictures. Brian

What a week end!!! For qualifying they matched us up,Dale and I ran all three together.I raced a 67 Fairlane first round,we both had issues, his worse than mine.Second round I raced Denny Sanders bitchin B/S,four speed,426 max wedge 64 Dodge,he had trouble,I ran well, rounds 1 and 2 when I saw they could not catch me I just coasted to the line.Round three was against Joel Minor[eventual winner] and his ex S/SA bad assed Plymouth,I had line lock issues and was dead late but was stoked to be able to pull back my deficit but could not get around that big old wedge MOPAR!!!I was very happy that my untested combo ran as well as it did!! The COMETS knocked out the crowd, unfortunately only Ken Godsey and I made the show. The trip turned bad about ten miles out on the trip home,my trans[that is gonna hurt] went South in the F350,had to have the truck towed while I waited for one of my BEST friends to make the 2 1/2 drive to come get me and the trailer so I could get my rig home. ROY.
