Eric;you get the WHOLE meal to yourself?!! I think the 351W is wider and taller than a FE,if not then it is real close!!My carb is only about 1 maybe 1 1/2 inches from the hood!! ROY.

  2. Eric:

That would be a little painful if someone built a 351-w that spanked a Cammer or a Hi-Riser!!!! LOL!!!

    Oh Eddie, here we go!.
    I remember Knapp's car going 8.60......

Didn't you get a 1/8th in wheelie, on one side??

Roy, as a matter of fact, I can polish of a whole happy meal by myself, but good luck keeping the prize, out of Eddie's hands!

I have put many 351's into early Bronco's, and the are good sized, but a killer bang for the buck!

Eric;I meant the physical size of the engine.I think it takes up almost as much room as a FE,may be even a bit taller!! I guess my old truck motor out qualifying some big blocks upset the rules makers as only FEs or 289 based engines are legal in Comets now,WTF!!! ROY.

Roy- you need to read the fine print. Somewhere in there, it also states that the rules committee can makes changes on an individual basis.. :)

I'd say the only "blatant" rule break for your car is the lack of exterior signage... I have a wide sharpie that'll take care of that though!!:)

You might be right on the Height of the 351 W. I added 2 inches to my teardrop going on the theory that Fast eddies Falcon with the 351 w was almost hitting . Going with the High Riser FE and carb spacer I was playing it safe. But after the engine was in I didnt need that 2 inches any way. I think the Fe with the Crites kit sits in there 2 inches lower from the get go. Not sure how your steer linkage is but mine just clears the pan.

I'm not allowed to have anymore Happy Meals. Eddie and I are Racing to lose 30 lbs Before the season. Tomato slices and Cheese Sticks WTF

And they just started Hot Wheels for the Toy give away too.

Funny all I ever heard him order was Double Super Size Everything with extra Gravy.

At that rate Hes going to have to put 98% nitro in that 351 w to get that 1/8 th wheelie.

    351W Guys

I had a 351W in a 65 Cyclone I bought in 81, its fits fine just like the original 289. Front and rear motor mounts work fine, the only Problem is using the original exhaust manifolds. The reinforcement on the of the spring tower was CUT for clearance. I don't think any body makes headers that will work, just have your header make up a special set. My self I wouldn't use a 351W engine, I rather use a tricked out 352 FE and I mean thicked out, it will even out due a 350ci Chevy !
You Guys are right in Nalstalga Drag Racing they Don't want to see Boss 302, 351W, 351M, 351C or 460 type engines in the 64/5 Comets. Those Engine are good for Bracket Racing. ~~~~~~~~AFX DAVE~~~~~~~~

Ken;that is a cool 65 sedan but he is nuts if he thinks it will go for that money!! Also noticed NO BIDS in over a week!!! I like his statement,"even the racers think it is an old racecar",must all be scrub guys!!My Windsor sits on the stock mounts, about 1/2" off of the center link.I think that Edelbrock/Glidden manifold is part of the height issue as it is TALL!Dave you better have one bad ass 352FE to get around a 351W in race trim,a tank VS a light weight!! 15. Eric:

Hopefully one day I can get my wheel(s) higher than 2 inches :( LOL

  16. That 65 sedan was built by Larry(70snake on the comet central forum) he had it up for sale back in 2008 for $27000obo. Nice car but really $39000 sounds way to steep.

greetings all, the 351W is a tight fit. Headers are made for the swap by a company called Tubular Automotive in Weymouth Mass. 1 5/8ths tubes. I believe they're still around. Crites makes them too. Check their site....Gasser Mac

Last episode I saw it was almost done & ready to be final assembled (as in picture). They haven't had it to the track yet. You are from TN, swing by their studio in Nashville and tell them to get on the stick....Mike

Got the Comet parked at this years Grand National Roadster Show. I feel like I"ve been asked to be a part of a museum exhibit. Most, if not all the cars, are the REAL DEAL, having been raced at Lions during its heydays.

I left the camera locked up, but took some pictures. Its bitchin in that building #3 right now. If you are going make sure to peek in there.

I try to be humble. But- after tonights private get together that my family and I were invited to at the NHRA's museum? Well, I was in amazement at who I had dinner with. My table had three living legends, me not included! But- when Bob Muravez took my 13 year old daughter over to his FreightTrain twin engined dragster for a class on how to operate an old slingshot, the whole room lit off like a fireworks show. She was overwhelmed by the fact that he was letting her sit in a car that was behind chains in a museum, pulling knobs, pressing levers,etc... I told Bob I was upset he did not let me. He said I should have just spoke up instead of standing there slack-jawed. Any dad would have done the same if they'd seen their kid being schooled by a living legend...
