I ran through most of this thread, not all of it, I hope this car hasn't been posted too much. Saw it in Bowling green a couple of years ago.

Storm King;that is a cool car but it is a 65 Falcon, close relative of a Comet. That is the original car, restored and shown around the Country. ROY.

Looks like there is a modification to the fresh air area in the back, not sure what the purpose of that is.Also it looks like there is an added brace on that forward inner fender well I havent seen before.

Regarding post #526, the cowl area resembles the modifications done to Dick Brannan's T-Bolt. Also notice that the shock towers have been removed.

All of the A/FX 65 comets got that shock tower treatment so to accomidate the new 427 Sohc engine. The mods were all done by Bill stroppe in Cali. The Sohc was so limited Only the first four comets recieved them.Dyno Don,Hayden Prophit,George Deleoreon, and Arnie beswick. The other cars were suppose to get the Sohc later in the season.
That cowl mod Im not sure. They ran the ram air hood and the two carbs butted right up against the hood bottom with no air cleaner.I'm thinking it was to get rid of engine heat, like on a teardrop with the screens in the back.Just guessing though.

Happy new year to all the S/S and A/FX junkies

Ken;I have no idea why they cut the cowl but we did that to my friends 65 Falcon to get the heat out of the engine bay, works great. The Moyer 64 and 65 Comets always were the cleanest looking of the bunch, did they ever get a cammer? ROY.

i dont know when they started cutting out the firewall area to vent underhood hot air out the cowl but the 1964 tasca ford thunderbolt had this modification in place as early as december 1963 also don nicholsons 1964 comet was modified this way.
