  1. Bangshift has some great pics of Roy's comet launching.
Dale, during an oil down, the tower had a guy in talking about his 65 mustang and he mention racing you a couple times. I missed his name as I just came back and then heard your name.

Roys car looks great and so do the numbers. What brand header is he running? I have a buddy building a 65 404 with a stout windsor, he just ask the other day about a brand of race headers to use and I didnt know.

ec164;I built my own headers 6 of them ended up at 36" long and two at 35",they are 13/4" for 12" then step to 17/8" to a 31/2" collector. The rear tubes on both banks go out the fender well and the front two snake through between the block and all that crap you need to steer!!!I do not believe that anyone is building a set of off the shelf race ready 351W swap headers,Crites does have a set of 15/8" unequal length long tube headers for Falcons and Comets. Mike;thanks for posting the pictures,I had not seen any yet! The Comet is working good, still more wheel stand height than I want but the 60' times are back to normal,1.39 to 1.41.I had made changes to the front and rear suspension to CALM it down,DIDN'T work,OOPS!!!!,It went 10.38 then 10.34 then 10.46[on the big wheel stand] all at 128+! Dialed 10.45 for first round ran 10.45 but was DEAD late,.290!!!! ROY.

Mike;YES that is NOT GOOD!!!! There was an oil down and we sat for quite a while,my tires dropped to 10.5 lbs.[it was in the 40s],I usually run 11.5 to 12 psi.,so that may have contributed to the uglyness!!!That old truck motor seems to be plenty happy right now!! ROY.

This has been the 4th warmest winter on record in Maryland. Only 1" of snow total (gotta be careful, don't want Ken or Eddie sending me any). I've had so much garage time, I'm actually 6 or 7 weeks ahead of my planned schedule on the car (wish I was 6 or 7 weeks ahead on my budget). Good showing at the March Meet, glad someone was carrying the HAMB banner.....Mike

  16. 60's here this week, Ole Ken said something about snow on Thursday ;( Gotta get the comet up to Jarad hopefully this week

Brian;I missed your post on the lower A-arms.I used stock lower arms that I cut off behind the sway bar mount hole, and made a jig to make sure everything stayed in line with the original geometry.I used a ladder bar adjuster[3/4" threads],3/4X3/4' hiem[rod end],and a right hand threaded heavy wall piece of steel tubing.I welded a plate to one end of the tubing and another plate with a hole the size of the tubing just inside of the threaded portion.I then welded the plates to the a-arm and welded a plate to the bottom of the a-arm forming a boxed area.I also plug welded the bottom plate and a-arm to the tubing.I then pressed a sleeve into the rod end to neck it down for the 7/16" stock size pivot bolt and make up the width of the pivot mount.I did not take pictures as I still do not have a digital camera.Mike[MD1320guy]has some pictures from the MM,if you blow them up you can see a good picture of the arm. ROY.

Well Eddie- We may have to crack open one of the Mason jars to celebrate. Mooneyes is sending over a camera crew to the shop on Sunday afternoon, to film and shoot the Comet (yes, MORE LOVE FOR OUR BELOVED MERCS!),in anticipation of it being sent over to Japan for their Annual Yokohama Show!!!!!! Not until December, but still an honor the car will be shipped halfway around the world to create some street mayhem in the Pacific Rim!!!;)

Eddie- Batch number 60 outta the Mason Jar is pretty damn good. I'm done with two shots, though. Wife sez it'll rock as a drink, mixed with Martinellis Cider!!!!!! I'm down with that, well, down probably with a hangover tomorrow as well!!!!

Merritt;I like the wheelstands, but it does not help the ET.I have a set of wheelie bars but have never installed them.I bought them a couple years back because the Comet got crossed up during some big stands, had to lift, not good!!!I'm going to try D/GAS at the next race,10.60 index, will probably lower my shift point to slow down enough, need more practice on a Pro Tree though!!! I've not done well on thepro tree, especially when some of the SS circuit guys run that regularly, tough to go against them.
