Ken;that Arizona show was pretty cool!! Alot of great cars showed up from around the country. It was too bad it didn't get advertised much in the local area! My friends that I stayed with never heard anything until I called!! The white 65 Comet Caliente belongs to a local who heard about it by accident!I would love to go to the reunion but money is tight right now!! ROY.

Bucksnort;broken axles seemed to be fairly common back then as all the trick stuff wasn't out yet.It amazes me more drivers weren't killed or seriously injured when you look at the lack of safety equipment back then!! ROY

Mercuryjunky, Thanks for the info. I was hoping the were the same. I have to order one and an under engine brace also. We took about 300 pounds off the comet Thursday, we washed it. I'm going to start the final clean up on the engine compartment next week and then I will start on the front end rebuild. The 9" is in temporarily to test fit and so are the 26" tall slicks on 8" wheels, looks like they will work with a little work on the lip. I will try to get some "start" photos soon.

Looks like the "Comet of many colors" right now.

Really like this 65.Dont know much about it.Dont know if it was a factory car or prior factory car or an independant?.These are pics from the 65 season .Looks like factory to me,I wonder if it is the Deleorean Comet later in the 65 season?

Thanks, I will order today. It sure helps to see one in place. I thought about building one but some times it is better to take the easier way out and get something you know that fits.

The Ray Uhl Comet photos are from 1966. This was originally Dyno Don`s 2nd 65 AFX Comet, which Eddie Schartman drove.

Ken;A backup light switch? I guess that really is a "Street Car"!!! I went to Sacramento Raceway yesterday for their All Ford Race and Show, two days of driving for a one day race!!! What was I thinking?!! Had a good time Comet went 10.70s at over 127 on all three TTs,then the ignition decided to go away on the way to staging for round one!! ROY

SIX GUN;I can deal with the little stuff,it is frustrating though but much easier to take than the Big BOOMERS!!! It was a good little show, their eighth, first time for me,about a 9 hour tow!!!I'm real happy with the way the Comet is working,it is finally consistant! ROY

Don't have a pic, George, but mine has one. Mocked it up without it, on my altered. It looked kinda funny without it. It'll get put on after paint.

Alright busted on the switch,Maybe I just got carried away when I was Wiring.

Seriously thinking about going to the Bowling Green Hot Rod Reunion.90% sure I'm going to go.Probably the only thing I'll get to do this year.I'm tired of watching and not doing.Much more fun then racing all the late model cars around here.

George;your chassis looks solid, looks like alot of thinking went into it!! What are the cutouts in the front motor plate for? Is that a real mag?I've never seen a 385 series with exhaust plates,do they raise the port? That combo hood looks like a serious project! ROY.

John;I forgot to look for the pistons, will look tomorrow.I ended up buying repopped lenses,I could never find any useable used ones,Dearborn and Auto Krafters have them. If you get a chance come on down to Famoso to an ANRA race.I run with them but will miss the June race,Aug.21-22 then Oct.23-24. ROY.

Jody;do they run N/SS? If so,do the Fords need to be FEs? ROY.

  30. Yes they do. I'm pretty sure they run Midwest NSS Association rules which do require a FE.
