Haven't done anything to it yet. I took about a 16 year break from old cars to spend more time with my kids. I'm re-doing my old high school car now (the Maverick in that pic above). This is getting me back in the swing of things and I'm getting my tools up to date also. New compressor, welder and such. The Cyclone may be next. No engine but I will probably run a 302 or 347 with a top loader.

64Cyclone;I hear you on spending time with the kids!! I parked mine for 12 years to raise my two sons!! That is too kool that you still have your high school car! The 347 is a great combo, alot of torque and HP out of a light package, that is what I have been running for years.Three Pedal Cars Rule!!!!

Ken;I think you need more seat time!! It looks like you are getting rushed while stageing, you need to relax, take your time getting set [don't hang out the other guy though],get yourself into a routine.Get RID of that shifter and put a Long in there!!!!You are NOT shifting that big rig, just yank that shift handle!!!!Or I know an "OLD" guy out here in CA. that can row a four gear!!! Nice piece of driving on that one pass, except you lifted [just kidding]to square away the Comet and keep it off the grass!!!! Great Videos,I am so pissed I didn't go!!!! ROY.

Got to see Ken's Comet in person yesterday. Very, very cool. Very nostalgic "feel" to it, right down to the H-shifter and leaf spring suspension.

Sad to hear it sounds like Dick Brannan is hanging it up.Heres an e-mail he sent out today.I'm glad that I've got to meet him at a couple events and got him to sign my dash in Bowling Green.

    July 19, 2010

    Dear Friends:

Since 1985 after the late Skip Norman invited me, Don Nicholson, Arnie Beswick, Ronnie Sox and others to a 60s nostalgia gathering in Florida, I have been active every year by appearing at various shows and other events primarily involving my racing past when I was with Ford. As with most of us drivers and crew, ninety percent of the time and expense was donated personally during the 25 years I have been involved. Meeting new and old friends and signing autographs was something I enjoyed each and every visit and wish I could continue on and on. However, since time waits for no one, I decided before the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion show in Bowling Green, Kentucky in June, that it would be my last. For that event, I volunteered as a consultant to help Eileen Daniels put together the Memory Lane recognition for the Ford Drag Team cars, drivers, crew and original sponsors. The team was active and spanned from 1962 to 1972 of which I was an original member helping to form the team while working for Ford in the Special Vehicles Department.

The event and awards went extremely well and I want to thank everyone that helped Eileen and I put it all together and also thank those that volunteered by attending and bringing such a great collection of original Drag Team cars and Memorabilia.

I will continue with this e-mail address for a short time longer after which it will be retired from the system. Anyway, I want to say farewell to all and I wish the very best to you and your family. I have been blessed to have been so involved for so long and cannot thank so many of you enough.

    Dick Brannan

Just a little motivation, for me, to get working .To show Mr . Brannan how much we appreciate the years of dedication to allowing some of us ,that were to young, to see a time of exciting drag racing.

Dick Brannon is a class act. I met him at the ODDR in PC several years ago and enjoyed a good bench racing secession at that time. I attended his shows around Atlanta and enjoyed them greatly. I hope he will be around as time allows. I wish to thank him for his contributions to the sport and its' remembrances.

But Dick, If you are not around who is going to interpret for Bonner? (Inside joke, Dick said that his job at Ford racing was to interpret for the Michigan bunch when Bonner called in to tell them how things went on the weekend.)

teddisnoke, where are you?? Haven't seen any posts lately and was wondering how things are going.

To everyone else, thanks for the posts of late. Hate I can't be at Bowling Green and York this year to see for myself but you all have brought it home to me.

Ken;that is some sad news!! I totally understand where he is coming from though,he has been active in promoting and racing Ford products in racing for close to 50 years!!The nostalgia movement can look to him as one of the major players in keeping it going!!! Have you and the rest of the Colorado gang come back to reality yet? GREAT pictures and videos!! ROY.
