The white 65 Comet was owned by John"Scrap Iron"Richmond out of Escondido,CA.,it was sold a few years back to a private museum.John also owned the silver, straight axle 65 Comet,it went to the midwest, supposed to be running back there. The white Comet is a full Alston tube frame,C-6,9",runs on alcohol, glass fenders[wheel openings moved forward],glass doors, glass bumpers, glass decklid and hood,Lexan windows. It was built in house by John and his crew over a few years time, never made a 1/4 mile pass. ROY.

  4. Charlie Booze just had this car at his shop in PA. He freshened the motor up and gave it the Booze Brothers touch...:D

Jody;is the guy going to run it?I have a feeling Scrappy got fed up with all the issues that car had, don't know for sure, but I got that feeling. We did get it to run a few times, but it was never right.I have alot of construction photos and pictures of it at various shows,it is a great looking Comet!! ROY.

  7. I think he is going to run it. I'll check with Charlie and let you know.

Jody;that would be great!!! I was so disapointed when John sold the Comet,it was so close to being a runner!! That car was all over the country at shows, but we always had to push it around, spool and all!!!! ROY.

  9. That is one awesome comet.

Roger;be sure to get some pictures!! Let us know how it runs. Are you going to leave the lower trim off?Let me know if you do as I have a friend that is in need of a couple pieces. ROY.

  15. Roy:

You better be saving your lunch money for next year!! Thinking I might need to take the Falcon!!!!

  16. We tested last Saturday at Cecil County and found a ignition issue with my car. It's fixed now. Dad's car is still having traction issues so new tires are in the near future. It looks like our next race will be August 22 @ Mason Dixon Dragaway. It is a 422 Motorsports NSS race and all Ford day. Vacation is going to cause me to miss Flashback Friday @ the Beaver. This is always a great race, only outdone by the US 30 race in July.
I sure hope you guys are saving those nickles and dimes for your eastcoast tour next year!!!:D

Jody and Fast Eddie;I have a savings account marked NHRR and US30 going already!!!!I'm hoping to get my block back tomorrow so I can get it assembled and back in the Comet!!!I only have 8 days to get ready for the next race!!!!! ROY.

  18. Hey Roy there will be lots of pics. With this car waiting 19 years for me to build it is worthy of alot of pics. I'm unsure about the trim but if I decide to go without you will be first in line.
The car passed tech tonight, I'm a volunteer that helps turn the airport in to dragstrip so we get are cars teched early and it helps the techy get ready also. My sons car passed to but we still have a few things to do to both cars.

thanks Roy, yeah i tore it apart last fall but than it sat while i finished 2 other cars and a truck. i really have only been building on it since april of this year, when i started the frame and stuff, its coming along nice and should be painted by next weekend,, i am thinking about extending the dash towards the driver 6 or 8 inches to give it that full altered look of the late 60's then the final put back together!

Roy yeah i got that obsesive disorder when it comes to builds haha.

i moved the seats back 12 inches from the stock location, along with the wheel, right now you cant even touch the dash without leaning forward i am going to retain the same seat to dash clearance as the stocker just moved back. we'll still have the cage bar to climb over but i think its do-able i will post some pics sunday nite.

I got the two week notice on the powerplant for the Rocket. It'll be run in on the dyno at the Vrbancic Brothers shop in SoCal. Dema Elgin ground a custom solid cam for it. Don't look for huge numbers from the vintage Alan Root cylinder heads, but the old school heads actually have quite a bit o' compression to 'em.!!!! Bill Mizia at B@T in LaVerne is handling the machine work, and screwing it all together. Gawd, its been a loooong time since I first starting cutting the car up.......
