It's all coming together, slowly. Ther will be a couple hardcore weekends coming up soon, where I"m going to get the gang together, and multi-task lots of little items. Seat belts, wiring, small assembly, detail stuff, but still important nevertheless.

I dropped off more parts, but am in need of a stock alternator mount set-up, as the car came originally with a generator. Anyone have all the brackets and pullyeys, with hardware? I rummaged around a few local places, but came up empty handed. Something I could clean up , and re-spray semi-flat black black would be tops!!! I'll pay for shipping, and some dinner money as well!! Just need it kinda quick, instead of having to run cast aluminum out of date era not correct stuff.

Thanks again if anyone has this stuff!!

Tweaked;how did the race go? How did your Comet run? ROY.

  12. Race weekend:rolleyes: we got the track built friday and wroke up to rain saturday but we were racing by 1:30pm. Made 4 passes this weekend no broken parts and the car got alot of attenion. The car did not perform very well. Best run was a 13.28@ 103mph. The car would launch nice rev to 7000 shift in 2nd and slowly rev. I crossed the line in 2nd gear on all 4 runs @ 102 to 103 mph around 7000 rpm. Saturdays runs where a 13.7 and a 13.6. I changed carbs and improved to a 13.36 sunday morning. In first round of elims I dailed a 13.25 and ran a 13.28 but I redlighted. First 3 runs where .199, .220, .204 lights leaving on the last yellow. In elims I tried leaving on the 2nd yellow but was -.219. I a little rusty.

The car drove great on the track and not to bad on the drive to the track. 20 minute drive on a windy highway. Felt very cool to finally get the race my comet. 19 years was a long wait.
I'm loading pics and post soon.

Roger;what rear gear are you running? What length was the track? Were you still grinning on the way home? ROY.

  14. I'm running a 4:10 gear with 29" tires and the track is a 1/4 mile. Same motor but windsor jr heads as last year and I was running a 4:10 gear and 28" tires. Last year I went thru the lights in 3rd at around 5000rpm. My timing was bouncing so I starting by changing the distributor.

  15. teddisnoke, the motor is a 331, windsor jr heads, 292 cam, dura spark distributor, MSD box, victor jr intake, with 750 quick fuel carb. I'm guessing around 350 at the crank. I need to buy a new dissy but that will be next year.

Ken;I like it!! It is a little late now but could you have lowered or angled the "shelf" down a little for a bit mor room?I talked [listened]to Fast Eddie today,he is all fired up about the KC race!! ROY.

  22. mercuryjunkie, we turn an airport into a dragstrip. This was our 10 year, we have had to make the event preregistered as we are limited by parking and time. The event is very popular with the full time racers and part timers. We had 291 cars this year. The tower is an old lunch room from the papermill I work at and yes it is on a semi trailer. We get about 5000 spectators a day. The race is put on by volunteers and we work are butts off to make it happen. We get the airport friday morning and have it cleaned up by sunday dark.

  23. What size 6 is this? I like:D

Analog Dog: I lost this link after I forwarded it to my brother in law months ago. He was just on it today and saw your car. He owned it back in the 80's. I got to drive it a couple times. His (and my wife's) dad raced the '65 FX at Hawaii Raceway Park back in the 70's. I also know where the other Pflueger '64 Comet is. I think I remember it with Cyclone badging. The owner has turned in the plates but last I saw it about 4 years ago, it looked good. A shop was working on the ignition and that's how I got the owners number. I removed it from my phone though so lost contact. I kept trying to get him to bring it out to our cruise nights, but he could never make it. Hawaii Raceway Park has been closed down now so we got nowhere to race on Oahu. Really sucks.
