My '64 Caliente has the holes for that trim piece. I've noticed that most of the A/FX Comets which I've seen-either actually or in photos--(which were Calientes) did NOT have that trim piece at the rear of the roof--maybe it was a mid? year addition?? Maybe it was added to the Calientes when the Cyclones were introduced--weren"t they a late addition to the '64 lineup? Syl

Mercuryfan;the Sachs and Sons car became an early S/FX,or early funny car as it progressed to a mid engined, high gear only, blown fuel combo, campaigned by Jack Chrisman. For 1965 the car was rebodied as a 65 Cyclone, painted candy apple red.Jim Barillaro owns the 1965 Chrisman Comet, and Chrisman's 67 flip top Cyclone. There are many pictures on here of the Comet as it progressed.Jack Chrisman's family had talked about building a tribute of the 64 Comet, don't know if it was ever built. I'm starting to think it was a mid-year addition as all the 64 Cyclones have it,and they were mid-year production.Anything built before April would not have the trim piece.Thanks.

I Believe you are right.I had heard it was to cover up that area where the paint would always crack. The flex or the seam design. It was probably cheper to cover that area vs repaint. This goes for the falcons also.

It may be a little thin up here. Looks like the Colo. Super Shifters is just going to have to put a red fairlane on the list.We may have to call in a favor and have a fellow Comet driver to help us out.I heard this guy knows all the troublemakers secrets.A certain 67 comet, I'm sure you have heard of him before. The never ending battle, I'm learning about screwing together another car.

Anticipating the drivetrain drop-in today, only to find out that the supllied TCI strip convertor is .250 longer ,end to end than a stock C-4 convertor. I cannot figure out why this would be?? But, it won't allow the required gap to pull in the convertor to the flex plate. It just wedged itself in.... It was mentioned there is a diff between the trans dipstick and the case dipstick??

Quite a feat by the way, getting the hardware to tighten up in a Ford I'm well learning. Just about everything needs to be accomplished through the starter hole... Still scratching my head on why the extra quarter inch in length...

Update. It seems TCI did not ask if I had a dipstick in the case, or the cover. There is a difference after all. New one comes tomorrow, then back to it. Damn. Lost another day.....:(

Dale;never would have happened if you had a 4-speed in there!!!!! I knew about the spline count differances, never knew there were two converter sizes! You think a C-4 is tight, try a Lakewood scatter shield in there or an AOD!!! ROY.

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, that was at the Dearborn Ford Fever show in Woodburn. I was running high 11.2's on motor. Tried a 150 shot of nitrous and only ran a 10.97. It looks like I need a new torque converter due to not even hitting 120 mph, going through the gears and hitting 7k rpm before the finish line. My friend's Mustang ran a low 11.5 on motor and tried his 150 shot and clicked off a 10.29. Much closer to what I was expecting.
Teddisnoke (Dale), you minitubbed my friends '55 Chevy last year when he came up for the Ford Fever race. Funny thing is that I wasn't finished with my minitub and put him to work helping me with mine. He was a little pissed that he spent money to save him the work and time and go on vacation when I ended up having him work on mine anyway when he could have just spent the time doing his. His '55 looks killer now. Nice work.

That would be our mutual friend, Greg!! Funny how the world gets smaller huh? His pop was pretty influential on my reason to work the Comet into an altered!! I really love hearing the stories on how you got him convinced to take the vacations to work on your car!! Just did not know it was you here on the board !!! Guys- mumbles can write a book on his automotive exploits, and we'd all line up to buy one!!

I DO agree on a West Coast get-together someday to make the trek a bit East to prove a few points, though!!!:D

I really like the look of your car mumbles. I was at Bremerton for the BC Supershifters event with my 65 Cyclone. I had thoughts of trying to go to Woodburn on Sunday but it was so damn hot Saturday I was wiped out. You guys had to be cooking in Woodburn? Are you going up to Mission for Mega Ford Weekend Septmber 10-11? Brian

Dale: I see Greg's been telling stories. His dad has some good stories from the old days. Can't wait to see your Comet done. Looks killer. I'd be up for a West Coast-East Coast get together.

Brian: It was pretty hot in Woodburn. I'll be probably pulling my trans that weekend of the Mission Mega Ford show. Want to get things right before it gets too cold and wet here in the northwest.

Thanks Roy. Some day we will have to get together at the drags. Roy checked out a Jerico for me that I am buying for my blue Comet. I have had the car since 1982 except for a brief time. Sold car. Got married. Got divorced. Bought car back.
It is an original 4 speed Cyclone except it has had a 351C in it since the 70's. Right now it is running 11.70's and the engine is pretty tired. It is a leaf spring/ladder bar car with 9" M/T's and 5:14 gears.

The red Cyclone is dead stock right down to the single exhaust. It is also a 4 speed car.

I will try to post some more pictures. Brian
