It was great to have thickly padded carpet. A few people were laying down, under the car looking how stuff was done.
Now the real fun begins-- Thursday night drag racing at Irwindale!!!:)

Was there the whole week, every day, on my feet at the booth. My feet now are three sizes larger than when I started!!! Pending poor weather, Irwindale will see a test and tune. I'm going to unload the car today, and put in some more miles on it. I think I may need to add some more caster to lay down the front wheels a bit more. When the back end settled more, I lost a couple degrees, and I think it may be the reason the front feels twitchy..

Dale;give me a shout if you are going to make it this week.Straight axles like caster,I built a roadster for a friend and we ended up with 9 degrees before it felt right. ROY.

  6. Here is the 65 Chrisman car as it looks today. My dad has owned the car since 1983. She's starting to show her age but it's the real deal and still runs on 65% fuel today.

I met your Dad in 2006 at the All Ford Show in Arizona. He had the 65 and the 67FC there, both cars looked great. How is he doing,I got word that he had been sick? ROY.

  8. Thanks for asking, My dad had a stroke last summer and it took him about 3 months or so to get back into shape. He's been getting better and better with time. We took the Comets to the Reunion in Bowling green and him and my brother went to the Fords at the Summit deal and he made one pass in the 65' car but it back fired thru the blower at half track.

    Thanks, Jim

ClearSpot;I have a bunch of pictures of that car also The guy that had it there is the mechanic-truck driver, didn't have much to say, left early. From what I did gather is that it is mostly original, unrestored!!! I also kept going back over and checking it out,I have now seen three original 65 B/FX Comets, all 3 red on red, weber carbed 289s. ROY.

Snapped this one at Atco, NJ. They had their Fall Finale this past Sunday. I was there racing the Mustang in my signature. Don't know much about this Comet and sorry about the shading.

That is one fine looking Comet. I wonder if any of these ever see a drag strip on occasion anymore or if they are to valuable? Brian

Mike- I remember seeing that car as well, and thinking it'd be a great ride as well. Ah, if only money tree grew taller!!!!

The show circuit is now over for my '64, starting tomorrow evening at Irwindale. Hopefully around this time tomorrow, I'll have something decent to talk about, like the fact that the car actually drove an eighth mile unassisted!!!!!:D

If Roy shows with his '65, at least I can get a tow!!!

Ken;it seems strange to see your Comet with out the Sox and Martin signage!!!! That would be too kool to have the Comets together at the MM,my 65 will be out numbered!! I'm headed to Phoenix in one week, hope they pick my bracket or at least get a shot of my Comet on a wheel standing pass!!Ken'do I see Jay's wagon lurking a few pairs ahead of you in post#1952? ROY.

We got a kick out of how the Comet was pointed up towards the Ford display, and all the Fiestas!!! Like it wanted so badly to come in and show those little rockets what a big, old rocket could still do!!!

We had a GRAND evening at Irwindale tonight. Three passes , all straight and true, albeit not the fastest. But, I'll take 'em that way for right now. The car performed flawless, nothing dodgy, and the manual staging brake, had they let me, would have made an eighth mile long burnout look like childs play!!! Its quite fun to modulate the front brake bias, and straighten out the car,as it rolls sideways out of the water box!!

Now, the bad news. The converter is terrible with its stall. Good friend Ernie the Attorney is going to loan me a 5500 stall unit, that behind my puny little 289 should stall around 4500 or so. And- the 4.30 gearset needs to exit, in favor of a more strip, and less street frinedly 5-something!!

Indeed, with three runs, a 8.75, 8.74, and 8.73, all at about 81.5- 82.0 mph, I have a ways to go. But, talk about a good, fun little bracket car!!!

The goal tonight was to validate that everything functioned, and it did, in flying colors!
