I think that picture of Dyno's 64 is a shot of it after Brent rebuilt it.Look at the full cage, the newer style helmet, the bigger rear wheel-tire combo, and the misaligned front fenders.I agree, which ever car was making him money was his favorite!! JMO,ROY.

When Dyno built a Nastalga car it was a Chevy bubbletop. Thankfully Ronnie Sox built a Comet and Phil Bonner built a Falcon.

  4. HAHA Roy, my Dad would send me down to the corner store with some change to get gas and I got to spend the extra on candy. I would be happy to carry that gallon gas can about 1/2 mile home for the candy.:D

Roger;I'm showing my age on that one!! Back in the 50s & 60s,most gas stations were Service Stations and had more than gas and snack stores. The one closest to our home sold bulk chemicals,so Pops would send me down there to get solvent, etc.,stuff that is illegal now!!! ROY.

    VHutch;interesting picture.The car is injected,apparently on fuel[fire suit],gutted,with the stock wheelbase.I don't think I've seen it like that.Great Picture. ROY.

I bet if it was a side shot you would see the front is altered. From the pictures i've seen he altered the front and installed the cammer ,raced it then removed the vents and glass, raced then altered the rear.

Thursday Night,be there or be square!! The Great 64 VS 65 Comet shootout happens at Irwindale Raceway. The Rosedale Rocket VS some old wore out 65 Comet, driven by a really old, worn out driver!!! I heard some attorney was puttin up some "BIG" money to the winner, winner take all!!!! ROY.

Judd;I went back through my pictures and did find some with Hayden's Comet with the straight axle, injected Cammer, but all the windows were still in.I had never paid much attention to the front axle being forward!! Those cars changed weekly in order to stay competitive!! ROY.

  11. I think it is impressive that those A/FX cars change so much. It was not until reading this thread that I realised how the cars change so many times. Part of it for me is seeing so many old pics and then the info that goes with them. Thanks again for all the old pics and stories.

Great photo Paul, nothing better than to see the old timing towers, cars of that era in the background just add to the nostalga. These new produced DVD's of the 60's are O.K. but the cars get lost in today's large tracks.

Roger;when this thread first started no one knew how far it would go.We get off on tangents but I feel we are keeping the 64/65 Comet awareness alive. My Comet was never a "Factory" race car but has been raced since 1967 and I try to maintain an original look to it.I have a ton of original facts and photos but I'm constantly amazed at the things that pop up! Yeah, look at mine! Hell, its nothing even remotely close to the preachers car I bought up in Yucaipa a few years ago. If the congregations saw what I"ve done to their little beauty, they'll all scream sacriledge!!!

Roy- I'm coming for you! I"m throwing big jets into the Rockets engine (literally, increasing jetting after a 2/10ths decrease a couple weeks back, this Rockets starvin for gas!!!)

    Be ready for liftoff!

I'm trying to get rid of as much debt as possible, and buy a house..This way I can start fabbing on my own again. Gonna hopefully build my 66 F100 first, then "re-restore" the comet..Not sure what direction I'm gonna go now

George- Great to see the legacy of the "MATCH BASH" logo carried on. To the best of my knowledge, there are only four cars that carry this badging. An elite group of gearheads for sure!! Cars lookin bitchin !!!
