I looked at the C10 thread and found no answers to my question. I have a '64 C10 Long Bed Step side with no spare tire carrier. I'd prefer to store the spare tire under the bed, if its possible. The owner's manual has no mention of a spare tire carrier. My truck has no cut-out in the driver's rear fender for a spare tire. What are my options?
. EDIT:- well clearly I didn't read the question correctly so I'll just take the information I volunteered and go . .
they are available..i had 2 ,when i had my 64..get ahold of grumpop on here..we traded and he has the parts...
they exist, just keep an eye out. there is also a simpler one that is a big j bolt that goes through the bed and the other end attaches to a disk that holds the front of the tire against the bed bottom
I recently acquired this 1964 C10 LB Stepside. I was hoping GM made a UNDER-THE-BED spare tire carrier. Didn't see any listed on the C10 vendor website's catalogs. Did the '64 C10 have an under-the-bed spare tire carrier? If not, I'd rather devise my own system, than use a Japanese one. I found an illustration of a 62 carrier, but I believe it is year specific. So the question remains, do any members have a 64 C10 with an under-the-bed spare tire carrier on their LB Stepside?
Thanks 69F100. That's what I was hoping on. I've surfed CL and eBay to no avail. Will keep looking. I'm wondering if there are cross braces to act as a stop in raising the tire?
Cerberus, Take a look at the spare tire winch and cable from a 90's Chev. Astro van. They are easy to install and work well. ..............Jack
How many of those did I throw out in my life time... you may try to post on the C10 Truck forum, I'm a member but don't have the short cut on my work PC. Do you have any old truck yards in your area? Bob
