I recently swapped a Sbc 350 / 350 for my 194 / powerglide. Am having trouble getting the crossmember bolted in place with hitting the mounting block and crossmember. I cut 1/4” off of the side where it was hitting the trans pan. Any suggestions to modifying the member or tricks to get it in place would be appreciated .

you can buy an aftermarket crossmember....

like this, or you can make your own, or you can modify yours so it works kind of like this.

Two questions, did you try swapping it side/side, they are angled slightly and what did you use for engine frame adapter mounts?

One more, what transmission isolator/mount are you using?
By the way, many of those trans crossmembers have had to have the flange cut and/or bent when putting a four speed in the first/second gen Novas.
One I built for my 67.

Yeah I knew the bolt holes needed slotted but it hits the floor with a stock 350 trans mount. I have a speedway g***er front end on it. Looks like the stock crossmember will need the center bolt section cut out and rewelded in the bottom opening.

I have a speedway g***er front end. The stock trans mount hits on the center plate of the crossmember not allowing it to go high enough to bolt into the other side. I saw that the holes will need slotted in order to work. Looks like I’ll have to cut out the center plate to lower it into the large opening to get the clearance. I’ll also have to grind some more off off the front side to clear the trans pan more.
