i have a 64 f100 long bed v8 3spd its really in bad shape body wise..it going to junked(they are currently giving close to 300 bucks). i am saving the engine and trans .. dash..? are there any other components i should save for sure to use on my older 30's cars? ....brakes ,steering ,shock mounts etc. or should i just let it go has any body tried to swap a older 50's ford p/u body onto this style frame? i have a nice 54 cab
The front brake drums are desirable ... just the drums ... they will interchange from 1953 to 1966. The 9 inch Ford rear end is also a " SAVER " The rims are always needed ... and worth keeping ... .
THANK YOU Duece R AND CATHOLIC as i suspected it my be worh keeping as a roller until the room for these parts in a nice dry plce is ready The wheels are icky after market white wagons ??? any body swapped to a older cab ???
Some like the round speedo, has other gauges in it, or sell it and the metal panel it mounts to on ebay. If you have the non-step bumper, the bumper brackets for $100 or more on ebay as well. people on the truck sites like slick 60's are usually looking for metal trim pieces. Might post over there and see what people need.
I'm actually building a 64 right now. You have a style side? How is your tailgate? Steering wheel? If you weren't so fricken far I'd consider trying to buy a bunch of stuff off you.
Late 50's body's are easy swap. pretty much same ch***is. Too bad you are so far away. I have a 64 cab in pretty good shape that I'm getting ready to s****.
Can you post any pics of the truck? If its any good, save that front axle I-beam!!! That along with the 292 engine, 3 spd toploader, Ford 9" (most likely), etc. etc. Maybe some cab interior parts?
i'll try and get some pics guys .. i really was'nt posting this a a parts ad .. guess i'm so used to having nothing that most other people i hang with could use .. make's for clearer thinking come s****pin time..
The axle will either be a 9" as mentioned, OR a Dana 44 with limited slip....worth saving either way as they are almost a perfect bolt-in to '53-'56 F-100s. Shock mounts vary a bit from year to year...
