A wider driveshaft tunnel is what I was thinking you'd have to do, only practical way I can see to do it. I wouldn't use that huge pipe though. There's no point in true dual exhaust being over 2" for a cruiser. I know I just made some enemies, but with large diameter pipes the exhaust velocity slows way down at low speed. If the engine is built for high rpm (drag racing, and in some cases road racing) large pipes are required, but a cruiser or street/strip car doesn't need them. Build the engine for good low to mid rpm torque (1000-5000 rpm range) and forget the HP numbers. Big HP numbers are just for bragging rights. Great low to mid torque will get you off the line quick and cruise at high speed much better, and still deliver a decent 1/4 mile time.

Okay, started getting off track! I'm assuming you will have a third link (or two for a four link) on your rear axle then. Since the axle hump is behind the seat and cut out anyway I think I'd have mounted the bags directly on the axle. Less weight rating needed that way. Nothing wrong with your way, and I have no real experience with bagging a car, just another way to accomplish the same thing. I don't think it would be any less work though, you'd have to make a high crossmember for the upper bag mount... "my" way might even be a bit MORE work!

the ride quality with bags on the bars is soooo much better and more lift..the bags are 2600 lbs bags a piece...these with a full size truck with a 5th wheel..so lifting the rear of my fairlane is nothing..hell i thinking i lifted the rear with just 45 psi the other day.

and i set these up so they would clear my back seat...im just going to have to angle the bottom differently to clear the driveshaft tunnel and 4 link... this isnt a big deal since i also do upholstery work

I didn't realize the ride was better with the springs positioned that way.

thanks man, i have the 20" racelines for it, just not tires yet. I also love the look of the 15" with the small white wall. and for daily driving, you cant beat factory tries that i can find in the yard for $20 a piece.

i am looking to do a rear steer rack and pinion on the also..as all the factory stuff would hold the front up. I have a power unit from a scion xb that i am going to try out..this that doesnt work, ill probably get one from an old escort

A lot of guys here are using GM Holden/Daewoo rack and pinion conversions in there old Falcons & Mustangs here in Australia, just need to fab up some simple brackets to mount it to the stock frame holes.

The trick is to copy this design, should be close on a Galaxie I imagine, will have to find a LHD rack obviously!

It would look better on 14" and skinny whites, those wheels are better on a mini.
Your buddy does awesome work btw, wish i had someone doin my exhaust! Good work still.

My 13s with 155s are 24" or so over all diameter.
Tuckin a fat tire has more street cred than a rubber band on a 22

Just kiddin bro, its all good

right now my lowers are just a temperary set up until i get my tubing bender stand together..i have to make new ones bc they hit the frame pretty quickly and i am getting rid of the trialing arms and triangulating the lowers

the uppers i am going to box with some 3/16th

my 15" are almost 27" tall

ya..figured I could switch it up..the nitro steelies are cool but to get the other 3 shipped to me would cost $350 And I bought the 4 racelines for $500..also figured if I ever build my 88 ranger I can put those on it also
