I'm with Moriarity... hang a clutch pedal and put a 4 speed in it! Bench seat, 4 speed, non SS Impala's were not that uncommon at any performance level. As a plus... Your best girl can still slide up next to you and you can cruise in style! ;):D

Well there you have it! Haha case closed. I do like a 4-speed don't get me wrong, and yea I know there's optioned cars out there like that but this one's staying an auto (for now!) But down the road who knows...I guess it all comes down to cost and parts on hand if I get to that point. I'm kinda digging the thought of that 200-R4 OD option but I have two units here on the deck I'm staring at, I guess I should just pick one. If I was smart I'd go the slam dunk route and rebuild the PG, throw it in and be done.... Then I can move onto the other stuff.

I can assure you that the TH350 gives a much more enjoyable driving experience than the powerglide in a cruiser.

  7. The cooler lines on the T350 you have is non-factory style. They used inverted flare adapters screwed in the case from the factory. Your original lines will probably work with a slight tweak. I understand about the braided housing not fitting the theme of the car; I ordered black housing when I used a Lokar kit for my C4. You could probably "hide" the braid, by slipping some heat shrink tubing over it, and shrinking it on. Shift linkage looks like it was modified at the transmission, a little playing around, should get you all gears.

That's a great little snap shot of the different trans dimensions, thanks for adding that in here! I'm going to save that away. Looks like the mount is in exactly the same location which helps. I'm pretty convinced that at this point I will go through the TH350, sounds like a smarter move and will lend to some good added benefit in drivability.

Yea I figured those were probably modified given the installed application that it was removed from. Thanks for the validation on that. I'll see if I can convince the hard cooling lines in the 64 to adapt to those thread ports and install that way. Hopefully I can get that angle without kinks. I'll finesse it and see how that looks. I see there are a few linkage kits that can be bought, or I may make something up with some parts and pieces I have around the shop. I have a friend that is proficient in rebuilding these cases and has some parts around so I should be able to make it all come together pretty well.

    Thanks!
