what ever happened to fifteen reds and a bottle of wine.... what if he'd killed someone else..... bummer. everybody has issues to deal with and different ways to do it.... this isn't an acceptable method.

he did, however, save the Mosher's the trouble of knocking his damn teeth out. thanks, kid. here's the bill for the car, the hospital, and you have a job pushing a broom twelve hours a day seven days a week at a quarter a day until the bill is paid. NOW you got a reason to live.

Hard to believe anyone could survive a wreck like that even with extreme measures. The car was beautiful, but can be replaced. God help the young man

It seems incredibly tasteless to me for those guys to write an article about what happened.

Oh man. hard to tell what happened lookin at the front of that "car". Looks like thers another wreck belly up on top of it.

Read the full story. Drugs can be hard on you, even years after quitting.
I sorta feel sorry for him, if nothin just cause hes still alive, i guess after knocking all your theeth off, breakin 25 bones and **** knows what else i sure wish i'd be dead, more so if i got there by trying to kill me.
Other than that is something hard to comment on. Who knows what can go through your mind if you wanna kill yourself. Its a real extreme act, and althou we might all agree that he shouldnt have taken someone else's 60K car, he shouldnt have tried to kill him self in the 1st place. Once you get to do something that ****ed up i dont think your head is gonna help you doin it in such away to respect other people.

Unbelieveable he is back a**** the living. Hope he gets the help he needs. At the same time I gotta say once he recovers he should be punished accordingly.

A fool in any regard, but maybe the throttle hung up when he floored it... not suicide at all. Was he belted in? How could anyone survive that if they were not belted in? If committing suicide why would he belt in?

Sad story. I too am shocked they wrote an article about it. This poor kid had trouble dealing with things before, now it's all over the Internet. That'll help...

I'm not sure writing the article will have the intended result, which is "in the hopes that there might be a way to prevent something like this from happening again." I didn't read much that delivered that message.

  11. I hear you on that, but I also think that people need to see that there is a danger in continuing to ignore, make fun of and deride people with mental health issues and addiction issues. This was extreme, but who notices anything but extreme anymore?

Well said. People need to see the results of these activities and stop pampering the drug addicts. One look at the Hollywood types tells a lot....3 2 1 till thread is closed

Any crackhead that does **** like that deserves everything he gets. Not sad, just stupid.

  15. My girlfriend is in the medical field and sees patients like this a lot. It's often without warning. When you feel like there is NO place to turn why say anything to anyone? There are more failed suicide attempts than you realize. These people quite often end up in a real bad way, worse than before with life of regret. It's not for you or me to judge them. Only one person knows what goes on inside. It's sad that this happened. I am of the belief that if you want to end your life (and it is yours to end), don't involve anybody else. Stealing a car that so much love was put into is just wrong. Driving it like he did endangering innocent lives is also wrong. Innocent people were forced to be involved.

A friend found a pickup in the woods with all the windows covered in paper from the inside with a note on the window. The note was very clear, do not look inside, call the police. He didn't look, he did call the police. At leat that guy had the decency to keep it as private as possible.

Everyone wants to kill themselves at some point. I've been there a LOT more times than I care to admit but taking a nice car like that with you is not a good approach.

^^ really everyone? Im sorry but I have not had that cross my mind. I understand that depression is real but I honestly feel suicide is not an option.

I am really on the fence about it, tilting somewhat towards Ryan's side. Dealt with drugs, alcohol, depression and suicidal thoughts/attempts when I was a young man, and I agree STRONGLY with what AJ says, but I really dont know if the article really helps address that. Is the intent there? I think so, but the article does not express it in a very articulate way. Very sad story.
I know from experience, the depression initially gets far worse after you stop using. Most people dont get this, in the case of someone with severe depression, the drug/alcohol use is a sympton, not the cause. The depression is the primary disease, the drug alcohol use is a mis-guided attempt to cope with the depression. Take the coping mechanism away, and the depression is still there. It's a LONG difficult road to come to grips with THAT, and early on, there are more times than not when I had to ask myself why the hell I bothered quitting. Now when this guy gets out of the hospital, he has even more **** on his plate that he will have to clean up, and his mental state will not improve till he does. I know I am STILL sometimes haunted by things I did 30 years ago, and have long since "made amends" for, but even after you do your level best to make amends for things, you still sometimes find yourself mulling over something you did, and thinking "good GOD, HOW could I have DONE that??!!" You REALLY have to push those thoughts to the side, realize you are a different person now, and disconnect, because if you dwell on them, they are the first step back down the road to depression and despair, and all that comes with it. And if you go there, you start wounding the same people all over again.
Sorry, but in the overall scheme of things, the loss of the car is nothing.
Feel like I should have started this off with "Hi, I'm George, and I'm an addict/alcoholic" :D

May God help the driver. The writer tells the story - This one is about a car and what happend when someone with what they describe as a troubled past gets ahold of the keys and then shows the result/fate of the car.

The story could have shown the victim with the ambulance or in the hospital getting the help he needed after the accident and never have mentioned the car and most would have looked at the article different.

But then again it would not have been on this forum if the car was not in there someplace. I agree with whomever said that the car can be replaced and hope the person that took the car gets the help that they need with the support of their loved ones.

Is the gl*** half full or is it half empty

Its probably a sign of the times, but no amount of ******ism is too much or off limits.

And that is tacky and distasteful to me.

About the article itself, the way I read it,

A criminal broke in, stole a car and crashed it.

    I dont understand the symphathy...

Agreed. There are much greater issues here than the car. Although it was an awesome car at that...
