Not to revel in redundancy, here. But Buick put the torque ratings on all their air cleaners in that era. It's an iron 300, whether it says "310" or "355", like mine. I'd buy the '59, if it's a nice, two-door. But, the '65 is a sweet riding, torquey, land yacht, as well. Just don't make it a daily, like my dumb*** did. You'll go broke real soon, buying gas.
Also got wind of a 59 le sabre for sale cheap that runs so might check it out.[/QUOTE] The 59 will be either a 364 or 401. They have an enclosed drive line. If you are not interested in it I am. Interested if it's a 2 door. TP
I have a 401 Nailhead with the factory cast-iron manual bell housing and flywheel still bolted on, but no ******. What manual ****** options are there for this that don't need an adapter?
i know,i know.i learned alright.just tryin to get him to check that threat, thats all.figure ya'll were dealin with me askin this stuff a week ago,so he could just go read that.lot's a good info.it'll answer all his questions.without pissin of the nailhead fans!not my fault it says 310nailhead,oh wait, yes it is.
what year? my bellhousings will allow a saginaw, munice, t-10... some of the older ones have the big three speed pattern...
I just left a buddy of mine who restores Buicks. He's a Buick nut... He bought his Wildcat brand new in '66 and ordered it with a manual. It was a column shift and he was going to get a Hurst stick to put it on the floor. Of course he had to see just what trans it was for and was shocked to see "FoMoCo" on the side! Even the service guy told him he was full of sh**, they put it on the lift, and the guy said "well I'll be da****..." It's still a Borg Warner trans, so evidently Buick bought a small lot of the ford trans instead of having a specific case made since they didn't plan on using a lot of manuals.
General Motors bought top loader three speeds from Ford and used them in '65-'66 Buick GranSports as well as '65-'67 GTOs. The '64 GTO came with a Chevy type three speed, and when they saw that it didn't have sufficient strength to withstand the 389, they upgraded to the top loader the following year. That's why most of the B-O-P bell housings you see have two transmission patterns.
