Does anyone know what long tube headers would fit my 65 chevyii with 230 6 cylinder i really want a set they need to be cheap or used is okay transmission is a Muncie 3 speed in the floor with mechanical clutch stock front end also would like to find a used aluminum intake Sent from my LG-LS777 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I had a set of headers on my '63 ChevyII when I was a teen, but that was back in the late 60's. If memory serves I think the headers were from Kay Sissell, as was the cam. If I'm wrong the other brand that the headers might have been would have been Hooker or Hedman. One thing I do remember very well is that it appeared that the rear header fit one particular way in relation to the clutch cross-shaft. The installation instructions were poor at best. As I struggled to get it in place I finally realized, before I took a hammer to one of the tubes, that the tube routing was different than the way I was trying to install them. The engine had 11.5:1 pistons and the cam had a lot of duration and sounded really great with the headers open. I never did have the $$ to install a larger carb and a better intake but even with the single barrel carb the car ran quite well. Lynn
Clifford Headers, 6 = 8, are what I used some 35 years ago. Now, there are some cast iron "headers" available that I think I'd use. Check on E-Bay, probably cheapest that way. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
In a pinch get the exhaust manifold from a C60 that had a 292. The exhaust outlet has a three bolt flange and is much larger than a stock 230 intake
