    What size tire did you get?
    What rpm will the 351 pull to?
    Did you get gears yet?
    Looks like the nephew is going to give Riff Raff a good run.:oops:

    Got a 28x9. 4:30s probably 6800 rpm. Yeah. Probably outrun me. I might put an inconspicuous throttle stop on it!

    Those Hoosier 28" tires measure out to around 28" actual height,not like the shorter 28x9 Mickeys I'm running,so they'll have slightly longer legs on the top end.
    I ran the numbers through an online calculator,and at your stated 6800rpms,here are what the mph works out to for each ratio:

    4.30=131.78mph
    4.56=124.27mph
    4.88=116.12mph

    If you have a rough idea of hp,that will give you a ballpark on your trap speed (HP vs car weight),and that can give you a rough idea what ratio you want.

    The 4.30's might cross the stripe at a pretty low rpm,wasting some of your top end pull,but the 4.56 might be a little too steep,or maybe just about right once you factor in a little slip from that convert or?

    Great build !!! Question for ya. What did you do for steering box set up and steering arm ? I’m putting a straight axle in my ‘64 comet and this is one area I’m lacking knowledge on which parts to use and how to set it up looking for some input.. Thanks

    You can run a Mustang/Cougar steering box, it is a bolt in. You would need to install a later column to match the rag joint on the box. (I am using a Cougar tilt) For a pitman arm you will need to come up with something that will cross steer off the R.H. spindle. A stock arm that has been reshaped might work, but that will have to be determined after the axle and box are installed.
    Although I have a strut front suspension with the above mentioned components the box should work with a beam/ tube axle.

    We built a steering arm for the right spindle. Made steering link out of 1 1/8" dom tubing. Ford rod end to stock pitman arm. Heim joint to fabbed steering arm. I highly recommend a dropped axle. It will allow for clearance of the front sump pan. Also helps with steering link alignment. Keep it close to level as you can get it. Stock box and pitman arm work fine. I've done 2 like this.

    Btw. Notice we are using a 2" riser block. I'm sure someone will chime in and say that's a no no. Right or wrong That's how we're doing it. Not a street car.

    Everyone says no riser block , Dodge Power Wagons had a lean to left issue years ago . The factory fix was a 1in block under the driver spring . I see no issue with the block myself . But I may not be correct . Supposed to increase leverage , my thinking is if the spring is strong enough not to wrap up , it’s good to go . If it does then maybe you need new Springs anyway . Good Luck , great job so far ! I had a 64 Cyclone Sedan many years ago , and have never seen another to date. Everyone says , never built . The lady I purchased it from was 93 , and it still plastic on the bench seat , all paper work in glove box , from purchase. It plainly stated Cyclone . $2689.00 new . 289 4 barrel , auto , power steering . 8 inch , 3.50 gears . She said it was on the lot and she liked the mint green color , green interior also . Butt Ugly but damn Big cool factor !

    I ran a 28x8.5 m&h on my 64 falcon with a toploader, with 4.63s and Hilborn injected 302. I ran 6300 through the quarter mile at 117 ish

    Height was part of it. It also helped with steering link alignment and added axle and steering link to pan clearance

    IMG_0962.JPG I'm registered. 1:00 this morning.hope hotdog registered. While we were figuring pushrod length we found a problem. Interference between cam sprocket and thrust plate for the cam. Grinder made short work of that. Comp timing chain set. Nice. Wtf. Back together. Pushrods ordered. Then cheese the pv clearance!

    What is up with the core plug in front of the drivers head . I must be missing some text . I didn’t read anything , that explained it . Never seen anything that looked as it does , must be something newer than I have tinkered with . Your doing a great build ! Keep the Ford alive and doing well
