I have a 65 mustang coupe that Im looking at doing a 60's drag/gasser build on. Is this car too new to straight axle? Ive seen falcons of the same year done but never a mustang. Give me you opinions and dont worry about my feelings haha. Thanks, Nick

too new, wrong body shape, like a pig in a dress. Altered wheel base would be cooler, but pro touring is the 1st choice, imho, for a pony car. turn and burn, that's what they're for.

[IMG]I've seen a couple of mustangs. They where all fastbacks though. If you want to do it, go for it. The Malco gasser was pretty bad ass.

I just saw this post and am glad others already posted these pictures. No. its not too new, I know that I saw some Opels posted on here before and the ones that were posted were "newer" then the Mustangs. I have some photos of Camaro gassers as well, if no one posts them by the time I get back I will....though I'm sure that will piss some people off.

Go for it I'd much rather see a 65 'Stang built into a gasser than a..gag...puke.."pro-tourer." Always build what YOU want, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Do it, do it, do it!!! I was gonna do a Malco Gasser for the street, just to be different. Couldn't find a Mustang cheap enough though......

  11. When I was young back in the 70,s there was a straight axle Mustang in my buddys grand fathers junkyard.I guess it disappeared one day into a crusher.....

This post is making me smile. I like the idea of pushing the envelope, though I agree with the comment above, "Just don't do it halfway."

I must admit, my wife has a daily driver 2006 GT Mustang that is Silver with Red interior and the fake factory torque thrusts, and I have thought about what even IT would look like cut up and changed to reflect a different era.

With all the guys chasing each other around building the latest Pro Touring style cars, I would love to see our '06 GT in more of a Street Freak 1970's style raised up a little all around, some healthy meats on the back on 10" Cragar wheels (sticking out a good couple of inches) and some 15x3.5 Cragars with skinny bias plies on the front (like what we used to do with our rides 30 years ago...) Maybe even some of those venetian blind rear window covers, some hood pins and of course it would have to have a real Jimmy sticking through the hood.

Blasphemy and OT, I know... But I have to admit my head goes some funny places sometimes...

I say go for it if it turns your crank.

Thats the support im lookin for! Right on. So yes for a straight axle. and what about moving the rear forward say 12-15 inches or leave it where it is. The wheelbase is pretty short already.

HELL YES!!!!....straight tube on parallel leafs, blown motor, no hood...piecrust slicks out the wheelwells, and a FOUR SPEED!!!!....skip the altered wheelbase, cuz it's too much extra work for the small change in the final effect. (ProTouring is for male Prostitutes)

Some time ago ( more than a year...) there was a Thread with old pics in it from MoKan.

I'm pretty sure it had a nose high Mustang in it.

Cant find the Thread, and I didn't save the pics...

    Does anybody remember it?

I guess that means that Adam is gay but riding in a straight axle Mustang would make him straight.

    GO FOR IT!

I am doing an altered wheelbase Cougar, (Better check with Adam to see what the sexual orientation of a Cougar is)

do a little search for the snodgrass and mahnken psycho mustang as well as the davis and ingram colt 45 mustang.....both were bitchin 'stangs......as for the ohio george stuff.....i personally think the multi maverick is way cooler than those old mustangs....though that turbo stang might be worth a look.....:D brandon :D

Nope. Needed the cash so I sold it. It went to New York. Actually the only car I regret selling.

I can see it in my head already. Im looking at the speedway motors straight axle. Is there a better option?

Ya ,MAS .So few people seem to know that they offer straight and dropped tube axles and kits.Every bit as good as Speedways and cheaper to.I have a straight one in my 61 Ranchero from MAS and i couldnt be happier with it .They will also make it to the width you need...
