On a 65 Fairlane if I use the stock front drum brakes but want to use a dual master cylinder then which junk yard parts will make this work. What junkyard disc brakes will bolt to 65 Ford Fairlane spindles. Which junkyard master cylinders will bolt on to the 65 Fairlane to make the disc brakes work.
For starters, I would forget about "junkyards", unless you want to junk. We suggest using the 74 Maverick unit - use the manual disc version, it will work fine for drum too.
I have a '62 fairlane and want to do the same as well, from what I've read on your site Scarebird, is that the NAPA branded one is the one I want to use correct? what else will be needed to just the M/C upgrade?
We found it to be a nice unit - includes several different fittings. I would also tap a adj. prop valve into the rear line so if the car is tail happy you can dial some of that out.
You should be able to get NEW dual drum or disc system master cylinders from your local NAPA, CarQuest or even AutoZone store.
The front suspension is the same on a lot of these ford cars from the mid 60's mustang fairlane falcon comet … . I have a 65 Comet and am doing the Granada disc brake swap. Below is some reading material that will be of interest. I bought my spindles on eBay and below are a few of the many links to parts. I bought the rest from AutoZone. http://www.mustangsteve.com/granadadiscs.html http://www.discbrakeswap.com/parts/parts http://www.discbrakeswap.com/instructions http://www.woodyg.com/fairlane/finfo/drumtodisc.html http://www.midnightdsigns.com/james/Disc%20Brakes.htm http://www.nzmustang.com/Newintoold/newintoold.htm http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-GRANADA-SPINDLES-DISC-BRAKE-CONVERSIONS-NEW-/230546084816?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ad9e13d0 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-67-73-mustang-cougar-disc-brake-granada-/120641316867?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c16c86803
